Every time I go to a dealer and mention Buell , the parts dudes pretty much shut down. Even going to local Not official Harley shops is hard. People don't want to listen or help for some reason.

Order online. Easier and avoid the douchebags.

Thats weird because the shop here in Springfield, mo is really cool and glad to still be apart of such an awesome bike. Most of the guys that service harleys and the parts guys have owned or ridden them and fell in love. We talk about the bike as well as some of harleys new upcoming offerings. Im not impressed much by there new bikes but we all agree that the old buell legacy was pretty cool. I hate the local Harley shop for their prices too.

Not only does my local dealership still sell Buell parts over the counter (and stock them) but the service boys went to Erik's 1125 school to learn how to fix these machines. And they will do it without question. I have become friends with two of them and they are very knowledgeable.

***edit***

I only go to them for basic parts (they still stock the rotax oil filters, and basic hardware) going to them for anything significant (sprag clutch, rotor, etc.) was wickedly expensive. I order that stuff online.

However I've noticed that with most harley shops if you bring them a part number and don't tell them its for a Buell, it goes much smoother.

My dealership is cooler than most (Hoosier HD in Elkhart, IN) because their go-to parts guy is about my age (grew up on the same street, actually) and he's had an XB for a decade. There's a Buell parked outside of their shop every day that there's not snow and ice.

Living in Portlandia, I go to Latus hd. The parts guys are cool. when I asked about parts needed for a 24K service they sent me to the Service department. The service area was quiet so I got their senior service writer. I told him that I was was working with parts and was due for a 24K mile servicing. Could he make a list of the parts needed for this procedure? You would have thought I called him a maternal fornicator in front his friends. He absolutely exploded with a long rant about Buell's...! Service writer's are there to sell. Selling is a thinking man's game, there is no place in any business for verbal assault's. Unless he is family, a video of that would have had him disciplined.

Nothing like walking into a harley dealership on a sportbike to feel welcome...

My local dealer had a great buell tech, but it's been steadily declining in all other buell related service.

My warranty expired (extended), so now i'm doing it myself and feel better being the one to wrench on it.

I wonder if the new EBR dealers might be a little more buell friendly…. could happen

If they are all like Reno's in KC then ya. I mean those guys only sell badass bikes. Mostly the v twin manufacturers.

I was on the phone with the parts department at Caliente Harley here in San Antonio, ordering the gasket for my upcoming rotor change. They didn't have a problem with that, then when I asked if they could order the nut as well he put me on hold, talked with his manager and returned saying they would not help Buell customers even though they were able to order the parts. Luckily Alamo Harley had the gasket in stock and was willing to order the nut. Guess it just depends on who you speak with and what dealership it is.

I am fortunate, my local H-D dealer is very helpful, bends over backwards to take care of my 1125r. Helps that they are AMA Pro racers, and that the owners favorite street bike he has ever owned is a Buell Ulysses.

HD dealers are getting it exactly wrong in the middle of two extremes.

Best (and justified given the part markup) would be for dealers to do the 80/20 rule on stocking. I bet 20% of the parts are what people need 80% of the time, and those parts should ALWAYS be in stock for pickup.

Also good would be the Amazon model, where nothing is in stock "locally", but they have a kick-ass online presence matched with regional distribution centers and affordable shipping options. So nothing is in stock locally, but just about anything you need is at your doorstep in 3 days or less based on a very painless web transaction.

HD is the "nothing right" middle. They don't seem to stock the things needed, yet when I have to order, they take a week and I still have to go over and get it from them. Worst of both worlds.

Al ships to my door though... it just takes a while because he is on the wrong coast. : )

My dealer doesn't stock spark plugs for an 1125. They also don't stock shims for a v-rod.

The parts guy told me they rarely are ever out of spec when checked. My 1125 needed 7 adjusted. I wonder how many times a customer pays for a valve check and they never turn a wrench. Of course I was able to move some from one location to another but I still needed to order shims in.

That has to be the worse attitude a dealer could ever take. That is wrong on so many levels.

yeah, SCREW all H-D dealers who originally - & still - mess around with Buellers

we each are CUSTOMERS, damn it!!

no way I'd EVER patronize an H-D dealer who dissed me, be it M2 parts or a new LiveWire

all hail H-D of Bloomington, IN
all hail Dudley Perkins H-D
