What can I do to stop rear brake sequel? I tried Disk Brake Quite no help | ||

It is moisture and crud buildup on the rotor. The stock exhaust dumps onto the rotor, turnout tips or an aftermarket exhaust can help reduce cold startups from coating the rotor but it still will squeal in the rain. Either way just use the brake, once the crap is burnt off it stops squealing. | ||

make sure your pads aren't to the wear markers which squeal/squeak to warn you. otherwise ditto Froggy. | ||

I use both brakes all the time pads are good Barker ex. for 2 yrs. The pads are EBC Double-H | ||

When I had a Barkers pipe it went away--put the stocker back on and the early morning squeel is back and oh did I miss it! I thought with the aftermarket exhaust it would have stopped. | ||

my rear brake occasionally drags, probably from lack of use and built up crud. SOmetimes I mash it down at relatively low speeds to put some heat into it and hopefully keep it in decent working order. I found out the other night, it's not rebuildable. Guess that's why there is no kit for the rear brake on the EBR website. | ||

wait, the rear brake caliper is an LRU (lowest replaceable unit)? no overhaul kits available? that stinks... toss and replace than, i suppose. did not know that. | ||

I just blew compressed air into the caliper to get as much of the pistons showing and applied brake cleaner with aerosol and cue-tips...then put a bit of brake fluid on the pistons to help them retract nicely back into their homes. I don't think there is anything else you can do, but I am open to suggestions as the caliper is still off the bike. | ||

I use the same pads on my rear brakes and no squeal. I use my rear brakes all the time. | ||

My rear brake squeals every time when used first time cold. So before I use the brake to stop, I gently drag the brake in first gear for about a couple hundred feet thus heating the brake up noting that it does not make a howling or squealing noise while doing this. So, when the brake is used for the next stop down the block, it does so quietly. But some times when I don't do this brake drag ritual for the first stop, it howls & squeals loudly! So, no biggie, I've been conditioned to deal with it. |
