They've been installing those "your speed" displays with real time radar on the sign posts around town. I have yet to register a speed on any of them...

I didn't think much of it until the other day when I was passing a bicyclist and his 12mph showed up instead of my 45.

Did Erik build these things with graphite impregnated plastic or something?

When I had the clubman bars on the CR, I never showed up on those things. I show every now and again, but rarely now that I have the high bars.

I believe it has to do with not having a reflective surface, IE: license plate. (Or on a bicycle, front reflector.)

But I prefer the stealth idea a lot more...

I just got a ticket on mine this past Saturday. So mine doesn't have the stealth feature...

This is weird. I've had the same sense that My 08 1125r just couldn't get locked on to by radar. With the help of a friendly neighborhood constable, I found that the laser wouldn't lock but radar would in two bands. ( he didn't tell me which bands.)

I was also able to confirm that my speedo is pretty accurate.

Does anybody else have experience with this?

NOT invisible. I've been the lucky recipient of two Go Fast Certificates. Radar both times. The speedo is pretty accurate.

The roadside radar units are not the same grade as dash-mounted or hand-held law enforcement hardware.

Modern police radar is especially sophisticated, and can even track multiple vehicles at the same time.

Laser doesn't work great on our bikes because there is not much for it to work with. Laser requires reflection, so the cop points it at front license plates, chrome bumpers, headlight reflectors, etc. They can hit our headlights, but not as easily as a car. Even harder on a XB as they have smaller headlamps.

Radar still can get us fine, it just is in general harder for them to get a lock just due to the smaller profile. Jdugger is right, roadside units are not as great as what the cops have.

Funny you mention the F117. I've been scheming about making body panels in the flat triangle stealth bomber style.

Style and creativity, not a ploy to be even stealthier on the radar : )

OK, but can you give us the plans for our "projects" when you have them perfected

I too am not stealthy...$175 buys a lot of gas

My last ticket was clocked as 87 in a 70, clocked by airplane. And it cost me a little under $500. Ah, California...

Just for the record, I KNEW there was a speed trap, and I KNOW for a fact I wasn't speeding. Hell, I was in the slow lane!! That fact aside, it was my first speeding ticket on any motorcycle and the first ticket in over 10 years.

Now, about that RAM, (radar absorbing material) and creating angles under 90* with multifaceted surfaces...

If B2tomtom would chime in with some ideas...
