I have ridden a 12R since 08 when I fell in love with Buell. My 12R was just stolen in Tucson ,AZ. I am contemplating an1125R. Last I remember was hearing that the 08 had some problems when they came out. Was all this fixed with recalls and ecm updating, are the problems similar with the 09's. Seem to be more 08's for sale. Is there My reason for holding out for an 09.

08 would be better so you do not have to worry about the stator issues.

The only issues I had with my 08 were the ignition switch wires breaking, I solved that problem pretty easily, and the sprag clutch failing. The sprag clutch was a fluke, IMO. Some people had problems with them, others didn't. If you do, it's an easy fix, and not TOO terrible on the wallet.

Most of the issues with the 08s were fixed like you said with recalls and other various updates. It is a solid bike with no major trouble spots. There is a list of things that *might* go wrong, just like there is one for your XB. Wheel bearings, ignition switch wires, clutch slave, turn signals, and so on.

For 2009, as part of an attempt to rectify discharged batteries on the 08s, Buell upped the stator output. To make a long story short, the discharge was fixed with an ECM update, but the new stator design does not get sufficient cooling at lower RPMs and can fail. The solution to that is to get the modified rotor cup from EBR ($175 after deposit refund).

Any year 1125 is a great buy, I have an 08 and 09, both are fantastic. No matter what you get, get a Race ECM for it, it totally changes the bike and makes it run how Erik wanted it to run, not how the EPA required.
