I had my stock ECM installed for a while. I just reinstalled the race ECM and now the bike is hard to start. With the stock ECM the engine would turn a few times then fire right up, no I have to go through 3 or 4 cycles of running the starter before the engine catches fire, this is really noticeable after it has been sitting hot for a while. Maybe the race ECM program doesn't keep running the fuel pump after shutdown as much to maintain good fuel pressure at the rail?

WI'm sorry if I sound condescending, but you did reset the TPS when you reinstalled the EBR ECM right?

Yes, that's the first thing I did!

Just checking. Everyone forgets. Is it factory tuned, or have you had someone remap it?

It is the EBR race ECM tuned for the stock pipe.
TPS reset is throttle open then closed 1 second each, three times, true?

1. Turn on the key.
2. Set the kill switch to the run position.
3. Don't start the engine. Rotate the throttle from fully closed (gently held closed) to fully
open (gently held open), and then back again to closed (gently held closed).
4. Repeat 3 times. Hold at each stop (fully open, fully closed) for 1 full second.
5. Turn the key off and back on.
6. If you connect to Directlink, a fully closed throttle should indicate between 3.7 to 4.2 degrees. If it
doesn't, repeat the above steps.

Quote from Froggy a while back.

Put into diag mode when done. Look at TPS voltage and position. IIRC, should be .2v @ 0% and 4.2v @ 100%. If that doesn't match up, it didn't work.

5. Turn the key off and back on.

I skipped this step...

Just out of curiosity: but my '08 1125R owners manual states to always shut the engine down with the kill switch first, then shut the key, and many of the starting problems people have told about are non-existent in my bike with my always doing just that......each and every time, hot or cold. Do the later models of R's & CR's show the same advisory in their owner manuals? I do run a Buell race ECM tuned specifically to my pipe and engine by Michael Richter at Buell and it has been flawless since 2009. Just FWIW. Bob T.

Bob - i thought that was due to some having an incremental battery drain which was fixed by a new IC? Also i think they fitted most w/ tender cords as well?

I still do it that way out of habit normally.

The factory never installed tender leads, that was always a dealer item.

I shut my CR down with the key every time, no starting issues at all.

Did resetting it again fix the problem?

Didn't try it last night. Will get around to it next time I ride. I always use just the key to shut it off too.

The 2010 models have factory pre-wired tender harnesses.

If your 1125 is hard to start when hot with the race ECM, this is your solution. Prior to turning the key on, open the throttle all the way for a few seconds and then close it. Turn the key on and start it. It should start right up. I think the problem is related to fuel vapors.
