I have finally gotten around to replacing the seal again. Just took everything off yesterday. The new seal is at the stealer, I'll pick it up today.
I have examined the pulley carefully. There is a very faint wear ring on the pulley where it rides on the seal (it can be seen but not felt), but no damage to seal or pulley that I can see. Looks like the last time I installed the seal I may have driven it in too far because the edge of the seal is slightly recessed, not flush with the engine case. Going to make sure it is flush with the engine case this time. Any other ideas/recommendations as to why this thing is leaking again?

Put the new seal in the freezer before I installed it this time, made sure it was perfectly flush with engine case. Rode 800 miles this weekend, not leaking!
