So, looks like it's time for new bearings for my front wheel. I know I could go with OEM, but I thought I might want to give SKF a whirl this go around. My issue is, where in the heck do you order these from? | ||

I thought about going with those, but at $75 a pop it seemed a bit much. Figure I would go with SKF as it gets good reviews from folks. Just is a pain to find. Though it looks like Napa carried the 6005-2RSJ which is the older seal. The 2RSH is a newer better one. Sigh.... | ||

Hi SKF has many kind of hybrid bearings too newer heard about RSJ seal , as wheel bearing i think the new RSH seal is best the older RS1 or 2RS1 is ok too but not RSL its not contact seal They maybe not use RSJ seal in our market we use a lot of SKF hybrid béarings in karting Best Regards Jossi SKF Sweden | ||

I'm always a little hesitant with buying from ebay. I will check the seller out Rah, Yeah Jossi, for some reason all the cool stuff doesn't seem to be easily available here in the US. | ||

I use 1/2 the torque that they call for I haven't had a bearing go bad since I started that 3 tires later still like new. also did this to help get the old bearings out. A punch and hammer.  | ||

Well, broke down and went through ebay. Hope this works out. I'm always hesitant to trust ebay. I went with the SKF 6005-2RSH ones as those seem to be the recommended ones. | ||

Be very careful buying SKF bearings on Ebay. There's a lot of Oriental fake stuff around and they look (along with packaging) identical. I always buy from a trusted motor factor. They're only about £5 (10$)each. | ||

Trust me, I didn't want to order on ebay, but I couldn't find any place online to order the darn 6005-2RSH in the US. Went with a seller with high positive rating. Crossing fingers. | ||

You can get suitable bearings from any industrial bearing supply place where you live. Almost any city will have at least one; just google or check the Yellow Pages. These are very common bearings. Another point we discovered during various Uly discussions on wheel bearings: SKF's are made in numerous factories around the world. The bearings made in Europe may be better quality than those made in South America for instance. The only way to figure out what you're buying is to look on the box before you leave the store with them. | ||

There are some SKF available on Amazon. Unfortunately the 6005-2RSH is not. It shows on there, but listed as not being available. | ||

I use a lot of bearings from FAG (Germany) NSK (Japan) it shouldnt be any difference where the SKF bearing is made if its Genuine SKF when i look at the bearing boxes at work 6005 they are often made in France or Italy even Asia its too expensive to made them in Sweden Dennis the torque is only for get the bearings in right place if you know the bearings are in rght place you dont need so much torque only to take away the freeplay |
