Just noticed my rear axle pinch bolt is missing. As I don't have the tools to get one put in correctly, what are my chances of the rear wheel flying off on the 65 mile highway ride to the HD dealership? Maybe I should tow it there instead? I'm not sure of how much of a safety issue the pinch bolt is.

Dude, a parts store will have a tool.? Then go to the hardware store and buy the bolt.? Parts on these bikes are there for a reason. Ride at your own risk if not properly installed.

If you HAVE to ride it, MARK the axle with some touchup paint or a marker or something. Put a dot on the axle, and a dot right next to it on the swingarm. If the dots get out of alignment...your axle is turning.

But...I second the above. Buy a tool, buy a bolt, fix the bike.

Wheel rotation tends to tighten axle so that's a good thing. Bolt is standard metric size so go to Fastenal ASAP for a new one. Dealership will not likely stock, so you're two weeks out. I'll measure and post up size in a bit.

Thanks guys. I towed it to the HD shop. Oddly enough, they had one lying around. Probably mine from the last service!
