Ok so I have isolated this so far as the lights fuse blows out as soon as I turn the switch but if I UN hook the headlights at the main plug replace the fuse and what not the fuse stays good and I can start the bike. I'm getting a big wtf!!! |

It's your ignition switch Steve, probably a short. They are fixable.
But, if you don't feel like messing with it, Al at American Sport Bike probably has, or can source, an ignition switch for you.

You don't need that tool. There is a Phillips head screw on the back side of the switch. It separates into two pieces and you can just remove the bottom portion to correct the shorted/frayed wires.
Number 4 in this picture, the rest of the switch can stay intact on the bars.

When I had this one of my bulbs had blown and the two poles touched each other and created a direct short which blew the fuse each time it was replaced, check for a blown bulb. |

Stimbrell, This is a very common fault.....good call. This once happened to me on my HD Road king and it took out the electronic flasher/timer to the tune of a $300 replacement. |

You can usually repair these. The bottom section comes apart and you can see the contacts, and you can see if it is broken there. This will also let you do a continuity check to see if you have a broken wire. |

Ok thanks guys I kinda figured it was the switch but ill check the bulbs too since I just replaced a lowbeam headlamp |
