Hello everyone, was hoping someone out there could shed some light on a problem with my 08 R, while out on a ride this morning she started popping out of 1 st and 5th gears, goes to neutral position, won't down shift unless I upshift first . Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Were the recalls done on it? I think there was one for something in the transmission pertaining to 5th gear....

Do you have the infamous clutch weep? Check your fluid level.

^this^

Check your clutch level and inspect for signs of weeping/leaking fluid first.

Does it happen when you first engage the gear, like the shift didn't stick, or does it slip out even after you've been in a gear for a while?

Stupid suggestion, but you might want to inspect the shift lever itself to make sure that nothing is interfering with its travel and keeping you from clicking into gear fully.

Out of curiosity, do you always use the clutch to shift, or do you blip the throttle and pop it between gears a lot?

I'm not sure if the recall would have anything do do with slipping out of gear or not, especially if it happens in 1st too. (my understanding of the recall was that it was a lack of oil flow that caused galling on the 5th gear, but only on 5th)
