Back story: Every time I wash the 'R, my TS switch gets a little water in it (ok, no big, it'll dry). For an hour or two after a wash no matter which way I slide the switch, it always flashes left. So I've gotten in the habit of washing her at the end of the day, letting it dry over night, and not having any issues. Well... Today she sat in the parking lot through a decent soaking thanks to Ohio's suck-ass weather. I departed for my trip home, and the rain picked up again. Half way home and my blinkers started playing Christmas tree on me. "Right, Left, Right Left, Right Right Right, Left Left Left Left, Right Left, Nothing.... Right, Left Left" etc. If I slid the TS switch back and forth it would always flip flop (if it was flashing right, it would change to left), but I could rarely get it to stop flashing. The last 5 minutes of my ride had a dry sky and by the time I got home and parked, I slid the switch around some and it finally stopped. Has anyone else had this experience and what did they do to remedy the situation? Other advice? I'm going to open up the left side control box as soon as I can (before my next ride) and make sure things are dry, and inspect any water seals for issues. I don't believe the water is coming in through the box though, I honestly think its working in around the switch, which is obviously a weak point to begin with. What do you think badweb? | ||

My buddy Eds 08R does the same thing yet both mine don't but I have herd of it from other guys.Some have tried die-electric grease I believe correct me if I am wrong. Mike | ||

if i wash mine (SUPER rare) that happens, it'll only flash right or left no matter which way i slide it. Then it dries out and all is normal. moral to the story: dont wash your bike | ||

Mine Did same thing, but eventually stopped working all together. In hindsight I should have put a plastic bag over the controls when washing, but wouldn't have helped when riding in the rain. I ride in rain everytime it rains. Primary transportation. | ||

I've ridden both my 1125s and all my XBs (same switch) in heavy rain, including but not limited to Hurricanes Irene and Sandy, I've never had the issue occur. Last night we had a major storm, my CR sat parked in a downpour for several hours, the signals still worked fine. I've never had any issues when washing on the few occasions I've done it. Given this issue only seems to crop up on 1125s I would suspect the fault is not in the switches themselves but possibly instrument cluster related. | ||

Mine was a.CR. I wonder if a light coat of silicone around the mating surfaces would help? | ||

I would like to clarify -it never happens in the rain, only in washing. I have a feeling it is water getting down into the harness area below/about the headlights (maybe even behind the cluster). | ||

Put a little clear silicone sealant in the sheath that protects the wires coming out of the switch, let it dry for a little while and use a little electrical tape to finish it off. This way you can eliminate water going down and getting into the cluster. This may be what happened to mine. After my daughter kindle washed my bike.my cluster decided to have a meltdown. |
