Hi guys, Pleased to meet you all

Living in South Africa, there are probably only about 15 1125CRs that made it into the country. This has long been my dream bike and I've been searching for about a year now, but enough history.

I have browsed many threads but would just like to hear a few more opinions.

I have finally found one. Red, with 20 000km (14 000 miles) on the clock. It has been standing in a the guys garage for a while, but is in excellent condition. He cold started and it fired up right away, no hesitation or splutters.

Only fault with the bike is the head bearing is loose, but that's an easy fix.

Clutch was weeping a bit, but has been fixed, and the stator replaced which are the only faults to look out for with these bikes I believe.

The goal is to ride this bike for the next 5 years. I probably do about 10 000km a year.

So, 2009 with 14 000 miles. Is this a no brainer? Have I finally found my bike?

Darren

and the stator replaced if the rotor is not modified then the stator will be an ongoing problem, The EBR mod is a must, they also provide a kit to repair the clutch actuator, in their on line store,

14,000 miles is not many, many here have more miles and beyond minimal issues (stator aside) have had good luck.

Look over the history using the search function, there was a thread on miles to date last year, Zac4Mac has a good many miles on his (08) Ask,

By the way WELCOME TO THE MADNESS !
We have Riders of the various Buells from all over the world you AFAIK are the first from SA }

Welcome to the fray, Darren.

I take it that when you say it was leaking but is fixed, that the clutch slave no longer dribbles?
If so, good. If not, get the EBR or the Oberon fix.

To make your charging system reliable, the EBR or Twin Motorcycles "drilled" rotor and a good(new or re-wound) stator are all you need.
That and a 300+ ft-lb torque wrench.

No electrical issues with my 08 except ignition switch wiring keeps breaking.

At 14k miles, was the 12k valve check done? If not I strongly recommend you look into doing that service.

Zack

Thank you all for the comments!

I can't be certain about the 12k valve check, but if I do purchase it I have budgeted for a full service before I even begin riding it.

I believe it was the slave that was leaking yes, but when I went to see it I saw no traces of fluid.

Probably won't be too many of us SA folk passing through, too few Buells round here : (
