So I heard a rumor yesterday at Mid Ohios track day that with little modification R6 lowers from 06-07 will fit a 1125R. Anyone have a buddy or own a R6 themselves that could do some test fitting to confirm!?

Are you talking just the belly pan, or the entire lower fairing?

if it is the belly pan then that wouldn't surprise me as you can use a variety of Japanese race belly pans for many bikes. The full lowers woudl present more of a problem though aas you would have to trim them to fit with the pods/upper fairing and also fabricate some mounting points to line up with the Yamaha mounting holes (or make more holes of course!).

Take a look at this picture and you see that the R6 lower fairings are nowhere near the correct shape to fit straight on (unless you use the complete fairing including the upper I suppose?).

You could of course just convert it to an M1 lookalike using this kit designed to fit the 2006 R6: )

I believe I have the body kit you're talking about. I got it from Factory Body Works when the they discontinued it. The kit came with no mounting hardware or instructions and I've never tried to mount the lower or fairing. The tail fit nice but the pod covers were not great. I sold those to another BadWeber who wanted to modify them. I still have the rest of the kit if anyone is interested. It's just sitting in storage. I don't think I'm going to ever get around to racing, having even been on the track in a couple of years now.

Dairyland Race Team used this body kit.

I'm not sure if this lower also fits an R6 but that was what I heard.

George, why bother trying to adapt something that will probably never fit very well. You can get a Catalyst Composites
"www.catalystracingcomposites.com" lower and use everything else stock. A minor modification, a cutout for the kickstand, fabrication of brackets, paint and your done. The lower is just $226.00 and it fits very well. See mine below. Just another option and there are many. Bob

I was doing a twilight Session at Mid Ohio last Sunday and Eric Pinson was there hanging out, My buddy knows him pretty well and we started Bullshitting about my 25R and he was telling me all kinds of things they did to his race 1125 including using the R6 lowers on our bikes with little modification! He was also a very helpful and all around awesome guy.

Looking at the pictures, it appears that they have just cut the bottom half of an R6 fairing to fit, which makes me think that almost any bottom half Jap 600 fairing would fit equally well/badly.

Why not just buy a lower fairing designed for the 1125R from catalyst composites and save hassle?

Eric told me you can buy R6 lowers for like $120 buck I assume thats cheaper than catalyst composites...
