Does anyone have an accurate measurement of the oil jet hole size that EBR EDM's in the alternator rotor for stator cooling. I have the equipment to make the hole, from the pictures I have seen, the hole is probably around .030" but from pictures it is hard to tell exactly. I did search, the only answer I came across on this board was 3/32 which is obviously wrong (maybe 1/32, certainly not 3/32), at least from the pictures I have seen. I would prefer to keep my own rotor rather than exchange it. It would be easy to measure if one had a drilled rotor in hand and a set of number drills to use as a gauge. Thanks..

It's not drilled, it's wire EDM'd.
The hole size is stepped also, not sure how many steps.
Inside hole, facing shaft is large, exit hole is tiny.

Looks like it's designed to spray not shoot a stream.

Ok, let me clarify my question. I know EBR EDM's the hole, this has nothing to do with the size. I know the hole is stepped. I know the entry hole is large, and the exit hole is smaller. Does anyone know the exit hole size in terms other than "tiny", or "very small." I can EDM a .002" hole if I want, but I have a very tough time making a "tiny" hole.
It is also probably not wire EDM'd, but rather plunge EDM'd, but again that has nothing to do with my question.
I will ask again, does anyone know the diameter of the oil jet exit hole that EBR puts in the rotor, in actual measurement, ie number drill size, thousandths of an inch, hundredths of a mm, and NOT in relative terms like "tiny" "very small" or "microscopic"

This is just my opinion but... should anyone really provide this detail as Erik and his team obviously put in all of the R&D work and he really isn't charging much to do it. I have access to Wire EDM's too and thought about it but lets support the FEW that give us support.

Again.... just my 2 cents

Honestly I don't think you are going to get your answer here, moralities or not.

While many have done the rotor swap, I doubt anyone has use precision measuring tools to record each part of the alteration that EBR does.

Twin Motorcycles offers a similar drilled rotor cup, perhaps you can email them and they will be willing to share the details.

You are probably right Froggy, although it would be as simple as using a 61-80 number bit set as a go no-go gauge in the small hole. Good idea on e-mailing Twin Motorcycles. Thanks.

Oh, and thanks to you as well Zac4mac. I appreciate your observations and agree that the hole is to spray, not stream oil on the stator.
