I have a 2009 1125r straight stock with 5500 miles (its new to me). Ive had it 3 days.

I have seen people mention EBR parts like ecm and some clutch parts.

Im not interested in any aftermarket mufflers. i really like the looks or the stock one. im not for flashy cosmetic upgrades that take away from the astetics.

would anyone recomend performance or reliability upgrades?

also what about HID lights? anyone do that to their 1125?

My recommendations - EBR Race ECM, then the EBR modified rotor cup for the stator.

The Race ECM significantly improves the fueling and makes the bike run the way it should have from the factory, not the way the EPA wanted it too.

The modified rotor cup is a preventative measure to prevent stator failure on 09/10 models. The issue is that in stock trim, at lower RPMs the stator does not get sufficient oil cooling, resulting in the insulation "burning" and eventually grounding out. The modified rotor prevents that by adding an oil passage to cool the stator.

Other than that, I recommend leaving the bike stock. These things are pretty damn good out of the box, just needs the rotor fix to prevent the stator issue, and the Race ECM to smooth things out. Only other things I would do is make it better fit your needs, like a better seat if touring, or some other farkles like a GPS.

If you are going to track it, then suspension upgrades are in order. I recommend the ebr showa big piston shocks in the front and the showa race shock in the rear.

I agree with Froggy. Mine has the Race ECM and just now I've installed the EBR rotor along with a new stator. I have the stock exhaust because, just like you, I like the look of it. The only other modifications I've done is to order the 2010 LED tail light. The solid red from the 2009 just never did it for me. I've also installed a Corbin seat for longer distance comfort, a tank bag and the cortech removable saddlebags. That's it. I've also got the tail bag which I've never used and the touring passenger pilion which has only seen use a couple of times as my wife got bored and decided to get her own bike. Maybe one day I'll put them up on ebay as it looks less and less likely that I'll ever use the tailbag or the touring pilion. Enjoy your bike and don't feel pressure to change it just for the sake of changing it : D

My favorite upgrades are the EBR front brake rotor and mounting hardware. I also like the EBR clutch and stator protectors. They look good and will save the bike if you ever drop it or go down.

The reason I've never used my tail bag is because, in my opinion, it looks damn ugly when mounted on the bike. Looks aside, I also find it too difficult to mount on the bike, although I guess practice makes perfect... Eventually. Practice can't fix the aesthetics though : D

The one thing I would add immediately is a steering damper. My personal belief is the bike should have had one standard, but I tend to be a big believer in them. Others might think differently.

de-noid number ONE. after that i would just say ebr ecm(since you like stock exhaust). i've dealt with the stock one for five years so i figure why change, but i envy the other people who have it and the marked improvement.

i also agree with steering damper. under hard acceleration that front end really gets a mind of it's own.

Solenoid? Adnoid? It's a thingus that retards the ignition in 3rd gear for EPA reasons. My SV1000 had one. I took it off and started doing wheelies in 3rd gear. It also removed the 6th gear limiter on the SV. I think it's the same concept on the 1125.

I like my Saddleman seat way better than stock.I also bought some better foot pegs and put some grips on the frame and air box.I also have the frame sliders and a Throttlemiester which comes in handy as a vibration damper and when needed bar end sliders: )I am also in the process of changing to a radial master cylinder for the front brake. This in addition to all of the mods listed above except the GPS.Half the fun of riding on the street for me is getting lost and then trying to find my way.I also have a really cool sticker on my windscreen that says,"JAPSLAPPER"
