Hey everyone.

Just picked up my first Buell, an 08 1125R. Just got it. Have not had time to discover any issues on the road, hopefully none. However, having problems with on-board security PIN. Every time I turn the ignition on it requires PIN. And when I turn the bike off the cluster remains lit until I enter PIN again. This happens regardless of starting the bike. Any ideas about this issue or experience with resolving this annoyance.

read your owners manual and turn off the function. when the battery is low, this happens all the time, regardless if the function is turned off.

check your battery too.

Hey. Thanks for the advice. New battery was installed yesterday. But I will check manual and see if I can remedy the issue.

Problem persists. I do not have the manual for the bike so I called one of the local Harley dealers. Unfortunately they were unable to assist due to the fact that they did not have one either. I figured that I may as well go to the source so I sent an email to EBR? Hopefully I can get this sorted out.

Here we go:

With the bike not running-

1. Turn the ignition key to "on"
2. If the security system is armed, enter the correct PIN to disarm
3. Press and hold both the Toggle and Mode switches for 5 seconds until "SETUP MENU" IS DISPLAYED.
4. Click the "Mode" switch to advance through the menu items. Press the "Toggle" switch when "THEFT SETTING" is displayed.
5. The current mode will be displayed. Click the "Toggle" switch until the desired mode is displayed(ON, OFF, ASK). Click the "Mode" switch when the desired mode is displayed.
6. If setting theft mode has been changed to "ON AT KEY OFF", enter the current 4 digit PIN.
7. The new theft setting is enabled and the setup menu will advance to the next menu item. To exit the setup menu, click the "Mode" switch until the "Exit Menu" item is displayed. Click the "Toggle" switch to exit the setup menu.

^^ From the Buell Owners manual.

Sounds like yours is set to 'ASK' mode. If you want the bike locked, enter the pin when you shut it off. If you don't, then ignore it and it will time out and shut off after a few minutes.

I have mine set to this mode, since entering the pin constantly is annoying, and I usually park in areas where I can trust leaving the bike. On the occasion that I want more security, I just plunk in the pin after key-off and lock it up.

PIN situation resolved. Rather easy to figure out once you have the info. Just wanted to say thanks for the help.
