So now I'm asking, what do you believe I should have paid? Also, do you think I got took by an owner who had already seen the System Voltage Error?

I bought an '09 1125CR with an exhaust similar to a Jardine (Made by some local guys), and it already had the EBR ECM (The plug & play, not programmable one).

Now I'm worried that I paid way too much because I just got the System Voltage Error... About 300 miles into ownership.

~What should I have paid for a bike with 6k miles, plus the add-ons, and do you believe this guy sold it to me knowing that it had already experienced the System Voltage Error?

Between 4500 and 6K private sale would be decent.Getting that message doesn't mean your charging system is toast all the time though.
Check the batt voltage after out of cold mode
should be 12.4 -14 volts. If you have the *fix* it may just be a bad relay if it isn't @ the proper voltage, easiest way to check is disconnect the harness fix it takes like 1 minute and hook back up to regular factory charging. If the volts still don't go up it probably is your stator but it may be your VR just check itby process of rlimination. It is easy to test the stator just search it hear if the stator is ok the VR is bad

Well simply put you paid exactly what the previous owner wanted you to pay. I have seen prices anywhere from $4500 to yesterday saw one in champaign at sportland motorsports for $7900. Don't freek out anything is fixable with more money.

I had system voltage error right after I bought mine. I replaced the voltage regulator relay and voltage regulator and no more problems a.year later.

The system voltage error is because the bikes voltage is either too high or too low. There are at least a dozen things that can cause it, and it is possible the previous owner never saw it. Even an aging battery will make it sometimes display it when starting up.

Hi, Nathan!

I wouldn't say that you paid too much. If it was giving the error when you test rode the bike, you could have probably negotiated a few hundred bucks off of the asking price--maybe more. But since it wasn't doing it when you bought the bike, and since it has some decent extras and is in overall good shape, I think the price you paid was reasonable.

I did warn you about the potential charging system issues before you bought the bike--the only difference in that instead of just needing the EBR cooling rotor, you also need something else. Probably a rewound stator, although as the other guys have mentioned, it might just be the voltage regulator that needs to be replaced. I know the 1125 is at Ben's house, but have you done any testing to confirm what has actually failed?

More money! Woohoo. Also, Dave, I've not done any testing yet. Haven't had the time. Going to this weekend.

Yes, but once you ride it, you quickly forget about such small details. If you don't, tell yourself that the only other ride out there that comes close is a Ducati...and the bill for the care and feeding of one of those is substantially higher.

Yeah, considering what it is sitting next to in my buddy's garage, this maintenance cost seems like it's only pennies.

Don't worry about it. Too late, no point even worrying about it

Enjoy it
