Those you running Flexi-glass fairings, I am looking for input regarding the ram air versus non-ram air options.

I will be decking out the bike with fairings, toward the middle to end of summer to get my race license with WERA(belly pan required) and am tossing around going with the Ram air fairings.

The bike is pretty much only a track bike, but a few stints every now and then on the road(no traffic).

Anyone that has run both? which is easier to mount? seems like even small forward movement with the ram air would be better than the fans? Pros/Cons to either?

Thanks in advance

I have both but run a mix of both. I run the ram air fender but not the flexiglass sides. The sides are a incredible pain in the ass to mount. I mean...painful. The fender I assume does help with performance, brake cooling etc.

Did you ever work up a price for the extra-extras?

Tuna - I run the full ram air, and fit-up went pretty well for me - maybe I got lucky**. Congrats on Tally, BTW.

Kruizen - the full ram air doesn't allow for fans, so keep that in mind.

**after further reflection, Jim and Tuna are right.. by the time I sourced fasteners, figured out I had to rebend the upper radiator tubes, make belly pan brackets, relocate ECM, relocate coolant puke can, and other minor tweaks, it did take quite a bit more than an afternoon's worth of work

Flexi-Ram here. Initial fit-up and fasteners is a project. Save a weekend for it, for sure.

I can't imagine keeping a race bike street legal. I can't even see how you would successfully do it.

I'm already close to not being legal, in va all I have to have are head light, tail light, and I use a bar end mirror and then get lucky with the inspector. Second rims have the slicks, etc. and I don't mind putting some stuff on for inspection.

I understand about the no fans. Any issues with a drummer fitting with the belly pan?

check out the catalyst racing composites bodywork if you want to keep the fans and still want full bodywork. went together well. you will need the fans on the street if you stop at a red light, etc. you have to be careful on the track with no fans as well to prevent boilovers.

Smoke,

How does the quality and durability of the Catalyst compare to the Flexi-glass?

Do they provide brackets or do you have to fab your own?

the top hangs from the front fairing stay and fan shroud. the lower hangs from the upper and you fab 2 straps, 1 on each side, that hang from the rearset bolts to attach the rear part of the lower.

Stirz great write up.

Damn!!! Just remembered the kick stand, kind of important for a street bike.
