I have had a very minimal weep from my 2010 1125CR water pump weep hole for months. Never enough to reach the bottom of the engine. I have always thought it was coolant. When I took the bike in yesterday to have some Michelin Pilot Road 3's put on, the mechanic said he thinks it is oil. It is only a drop or two that comes out and not on every ride. I just changed the oil and there is not even a hint of coolant in the drained oil. Could it really be oil? How could it get to the water pump weep hole? Mechanic says he has seen it before on other bikes and not to worry about it. Any opinions or answers welcome- thanks, Mort

I had "white chalk" coming out of my coolant weep hole when purchased new. I was concerned with cavitation in the system, which meant air bubbles, which means trouble.

If you pull your right pod off, you will be able to check/fill your coolant. I used the HD stuff. Gallon is about $20. Only needed a top-off of about half pint. I monitored it after every ride for a while, then every month.

Only loss I had was when the left fan quit working and it was puking coolant out after a short run around town. HD replaced fan and ECM and all was well again. No issues.

I'd say ride it and monitor it.

Hi Two seasons- On mine, there is no white chalk when the weep dries out, just a clear looking glisten, like oil but it is so little I have not had to top off oil or coolant. thanks for the reply and info! Mort

I'd then clean the coolant weep hole, then put a paper towel folded over and duct tape that to the clutch weep hole on the clutch cover and ride it for awhile. That way, if it is from the clutch weep hole, the paper towel will contain it for a while and also allow the weep hole to "breathe" as it was intended.

This way you'll know more about where the liquid is coming from. It may not be pretty on the cover, but it will let you know.

I have the same issue, it certainly seems to be oil. But it doesn't do it regularly, it seems to happen when I work the motor more. I'm wondering if the extra oil the 2010 motor carries could be causing it to blow past the oil seal in the water pump.
