Just wanted to make sure it was threaded regular before going crazy trying to losen it. Also what are thoughts on using an impact?

Do your research. Impacts can cause undue stress on transmission parts. If the rotor nut was left hand thread it would spin itself off.

Heat the nut to soften the loctite otherwise it'll be a rpita. No reason why you can't use an impact wrench to undo it.Won't need the locking tool either.
But not suitable for putting it back on.

Heating it worked out perfect no need for an impact either. Just sucks what I found behind it

The balance gears ate them selves up and I'm not sure yet what all is involved getting them out.

I have a 2008 1125r that has a 2010 motor in it because of warranty and that motor only has 4500 miles on it and the gears are shot.
