Hey guys, thought I'd post up some pictures of my latest bike build. This is the third version of this bike and probably my favorite. It's not quite done, working on the assembly right now, the numberplate I made for the front is still at the painter's.

Bike info-
'78 xs650, custom made frame/swingarm/tail section. Sportster seat, honda cl175 tank, zx6r forks, 240mm rear tire, lots of other stuff.

Check it out, lemme know whatcha think.

I call it the Fat Tracker.....

still a lot of little stuff to do to button it up, but I'm really pleased with how it's coming together.
Got some pearl in the paint as well, not sure if you can really tell in this photo or not.

Getting close!!

Looks good...not to criticize, but how are you gonna get the chain past that big fat tire?....you're gonna need an offset C'shaft Sprocket!...or a jack shaft..when I do engine transplants - it's the first thing I look at - (1) the swing arm pivot in relation to the C'shaft Sprocket (or the chain will saw thru the swing arm) and (2) the chain "run" (sprocket alignment) with relation to the width of the rear tire....might want to put that "basketball" on a diet!

Other than that rear tire it looks like the the best looking double cradle design I have ever seen.

Dannybuell- Thanks for the compliment, I actually designed the frame a certain way, because all the XS "purists" out there are always crying and complaining about all the stock XS frames that are being cut up to make hideous choppers with, so I designed this frame to mimick the stock lines. I agree though, I think it has a real simple look to it.

Nuts, I already have an offset sprocket for the bike. This is actually the third version of this bike so I've had it riding before with the big rear tire.

The reason it has a 240 rear tire to begin with is that the original version was a chopper I built. Then I just decided to keep it for this build because I'd never seen anything like it.

Obviously it's not for everyone, or probably even most people. But I built it because I thought it was cool and that's what's so great about motorcycles, we all love different things!

Here's the earlier versions of the bike:

Original-

Second version-

And here's another of my builds, '78 XS650 that I built frame up. Changed the engine to fuel injection and turbocharged it. This one is my pride and joy, even though I haven't got it 100% finished yet.

Bikes are what you make them, and as long as you like what you're doing, then no one can tell you it's wrong : )

It's funny though, I have all these custom bikes, and yet my Buell is 100% stock right now. How embarrassing : )

Thanks guys, that was the goal, to create something truly new-

Some new pics today:

Alas, I'm moving tomorrow so I won't get the chance to finish the bike for a couple months. I pushed really hard to get it done before I left, just came up a few days short.

Sky ,that fattracker is a cool looking bike! (they all are very nice work)
Is that tailpiece completely from sheet metal?
It looks a little of the ulysses tailpiece.

And its funny that you used some buell parts in your builds!

Thanks man. The tail section is entirely from sheet metal- I built the skeleton using 1/4" round bar, then skinned it with 16GA.

I always try to use some Buell parts in everything I build. Like I said, Erik is a hero of mine so I like to incorporate his stuff : )

Hey man! That motor is an all time classic and have to say you have done it justice with your builds! Very nicely done!

Nice to see the use of Buell bits as well!

Those motors, and in fact the bikes are a rareity here in SA.
