I'm trying to install a set of showa big piston forks with my brother in my 1125R. The original forks are installed with the snap ring pushed up against the bottom of the upper triple tree. The big piston forks have that snap ring much lower. Are we supposed to set it up against the triple tree or set it using the 2 groves around the top portion of the fork which places the snap ring appx 21mm below the tree?

Don't get hung up on the snap ring. Check your OAL of the forks (not sure if they are the same as the stockers), and just do your initial set up so that length below bottom triple is the same as what you had originally so starting geometry is the same, then go from there.

We ended up using the top groove which raised the bike 4mm. Just have to do the rear shock and then go out for a test ride. Thanks Stirz.
