Okay, I'm in HD with a coworker. He's getting some HD jewelry for is wife. So I wonder around and find a 2009 red 1125R that has approx 3400 miles on it. I throw a leg over it and feels good. I'm wanting to go back to the "crotch rockets" again. Have always liked the 1125r but bought a Uly about 5yrs ago. Mainly due to the commute that I had back then and being 6'4". They are asking $7500, I'm sure there is some negotiation built into that. What I would like to do is trade my 2006 stock Uly with a little over 22K miles on it for this thing. I would like to get 4K for my bike and talk him down to $6,500 if possible. Think I could do that? I am asking you people that are "in the know" because I don't really know the values as good as I should and again my research time is very limited with my busy life. I don't have time to research through all the posts to figure this out and honestly I'm a bit lazy in that area. Can you guys provide some info, plz....
Also posting this on the BB&D side of the fence.

Personal opinion, yes @ 5k just for the fact HD only complied to make parts until 2015(+-). Make sure they don't stick you with a simple interest loan.
Just throwing it out there, go get a personal loan for $4500 and you can buy 1125's all day.
GREAT (buy) BIKE!
Hehe should be EBR slogan

When HD was shutting down Buell they said they would be providing OEM parts support for at least 7 years.

Sounds high to me, give it a couple months when more people try to sell for spring. You should find one well sorted out for under $6000 pretty easy. You want one that's had the stator fix if an '09/'10 for sure. With receipts...

I have an 08 1125R and an 09 Uly.
I would sell a kidney before either bike.

Figure out a way to keep the Uly and add the 11, just my 2¢
The Uly is my daily rider, i get on Loretta when I need an adrenalin rush.
Both are essential to my limited sanity.

IMO, price range for 1125s now is $4-6k, no more unless it was Erik's personal bike.
Hell, mine is 5 years old, the newest are 3+...

+1 on trying to keep the Uly too. My other bike is a naked-ized V-Strom 650 (very Uly-ish) and the two complement each other very well. My other other bike is a 2007 Bonneville so I is a happy motorcyclist...

I'm curious why wouldn't you want a simple interest loan?

Simple interest loan
You pay the full amount of interest, regardless how quick you pay it off!

Thanks for all the info/input. I will mull all this over and figure out my next move. I'm not sure how this will play out, yet.
Happy riding! Especially for the people that can ride right now. It's still flipp'n winter in Wisconsin. And I really want to ride... NOW!

That is way to much to pay for a 1125.

Screw the "stator fix" - get EBR rotor, get rid of that damned piece of shit harness "upgrade", and do a high temp rewind on the stator if it fails.

IMHO the price is high, unless it is a new one (you would be first title holder) with basically zero miles. My guess is if new, they will be able to get that price or close to it if they find the right buyer. Whether you should be the right buyer at that price only you can decide. I would go for a used one in good shape, which might allow you to keep the Uly.

I think it is high as well.

Considered this one myself:

The bike probably looks and runs like new with that little miles on it.

7,500 does seem high given the bike is 4 years old and no longer in production. That and also there is a high probability that it will need a new Stator.

I would look elsewhere first. But that is kind of like buying it new though so there is that. If it comes with an extended warranty then I would say yeah....7500 OTD.

Deals off!
The wife is sooo talking crazy. If I come home with another bike, either traded or outright bought she will get another animal. Oh the pain! We have three dogs and one cat already. I made a deal with her the last time I got the Uly, I get a bike she get's a dog. At the time it was a great deal, we only had one dog and two cats back then. (had to put the other one down, health problems) Well, we ended up with this good for nothing lhasa-pug-who know what else is mixed in there mess! And I could go into the stupid things it does, I really don't like the dog. But my blood pressure would rise, I would get light-headed, and who know's what else would happen to me. :-( Life is always a circus with the animals, no peace. So no way!! Her plan was to get one of those tea cup persians cats that will cost approx $2,500 and then all the other expenses will follow. Here is the kicker, that stupid dog would hurt the little cat, it has already hurt the other cat and we hardly ever see it anymore. It hides and slinks everywhere. :-(
It's not a total loss, I have just reconfirmed my love for the Uly and all is good. The Uly is stock right now, but not for long. I see a new exhaust, air cleaner, and EBR ECM in my future!! Even entertaining the thought of making it it another color, let's go with black for today. (Note: she was looking over my shoulder for most of this and chuckling) :-)

Simple interest loans have no pre payment penalty, if you pay it off early, you only pay the interest up to that date, not the total interest calculated on the contract.
So you only want a simple interest loan, the only other type is rule of "78" (home loans). I have been in the automobile and motorcycle business for 30 years, currently a GM of a auto dealer, so I have a little insight. Simple Interest is the only way to go! A personal loan is a simple interest loan.

Tell your wife to go to your local shelter to rescue a cat. Some damn breeder who is pimping their screwed-up inbred high $$ cat to make more unhealthy cats is a jerk. If you approach this right like you just want to rescue a poor little kittie you'll look good and the $2500 you'll save on the cat can go to another Buell cause you're such a nice guy now. And you can get a big tomcat that will kick the new dogs butt.

BTW, I'm pretty sure Jesus would rescue and not go to a breeder. But what do I know, I'm Jewish. And involved with our local shelter as a used-dog salesman.

Duphuckincati... Now that's funny and I like your idea and style!!! LOL Btw, all our animals are from several shelters, the wife must be loosing it to want to pay for an animal. If she had her way somehow we would be the towns animal shelter.

Kenm123..... No more dogs and especially a barky/howling thing either.
Can't get ride of her either, can't afford it no matter what it would cost. She's just a true animal lover to a fault.... LOL

Mackja is 100% correct a simple interest rate is the only way to go. As GM employee I can confirm with what Mackja is saying.

No prepayment penalty and you only pay for the interest you use.

I would get rid of all my bikes (and I have a lot of them), my wife and my home before I would be without a dog. They are the best friend you could have. When I had to put down my old Rhodesian Ridgeback, I cried for days (and he was a 'rescue' from mistreatment - I even tracked down his original owner who caused his misery and shared my 'wisdom' with him

On the subject of critters -

We were a happy one-cat family for years.

3 years ago the wife rescued a parakeet.
I named him Freddy, as in Krueger, b/c he tended to scream a lot.
He has integrated well and sings more than screams now.

Last year, the wife says "there's a starving cat on the back porch".
I told her to chase it off, then went out to check it out.

For me it was love at first sight - he was scruffy and had almost no tail but plenty of attitude.
Fur and bones, he was almost dead. He weighed about 3 pounds then.
What tail he has, wags like a Shitzu when he's happy. This cat has more character than an old Norton...
He's around 14# now and loves to drink straight from the tub faucet.

I can't see paying big bucks for a "purebred" when there's so many strays/rescue animals.

Enjoy your world.

Zack
