hello all Looking at the EBR site, I saw that he produces a racing ecm.. you can also order it calibrated for the original exhaust with catalyst or w/o catalyst.  The question is: is there a version of the muffler without catalytist? (and i'm 99% sure it not exist); you know a method to eliminate the catalyst without destroy or ruin the muffler?? I tried to put a open muffler, but it makes more noise of an airplane and attracts the police as a honey with bees, so i had to sell it.. sorry for my spaghetti english! | ||

The bikes sold in the US did not have a catalyst as part of the exhaust system, that is why they have the option for both with or without the cat | ||

Yes - 49 state version in the US do not have the cat. In the US anyway, only California requires a cat. | ||

is there a version of the muffler without catalytist? There most certainly is! In fact, I have one that I'm trying to sell. But beyond the shameless sales attempt, 1125 mufflers without catalysts were used on most, if not all, DOM (Domestic) 1125's. The one I'm trying to sell of came off a 2008 1125R. An easy way to identify an 1125 mufflers status is to check at the inlet, right where the header comes in. there is a stamping there that identifies whether or not it has a cataylst. C for catalyst, and either N or NC for non-catalyst. I have no idea how to go about removing the catalyst from a muffler so equipped, 1313 | ||

that's good! no catalyst = more power, right??  there is only a problem for me that I live in Italy, buy a muffler from America would cost me too much for shipping.. i'll try anyway.. 1313, how much you want for the muffler with shipment?? (Message edited by bubbone on December 07, 2012) | ||

I don't think there is any benefit from getting a non-catalyst muffler. Your best investment is to have your existing muffler re-coated (painted) with black Ceramic coating. This coating makes your muffler look much better than the stock paint and is supposed to retain more heat for more efficient exhaust function. You can also Ceramic coat your headers (the tubes that go from engine to muffler). Together plus an Erik Buell Racing ECM upgrade will probably cost you less to ship a whole muffler from the USA to Italy. | ||
