I am looking at a 2009 1125CR. I love the looks of these bikes and the Fun Factor of them. This is what the owner stated about his bike for sale. With this little bit of info, what would you give me in advice about purchasing this bike with this little bit of info on it and how much would be a fair price? I would really appreciate any feedback, Thanks Bo.

"Past issues: The charging system/ecm specifically some ground wires and the alternator. Once HD finally authorized replacement of both the alternator AND the regulator everything has been fine. Those were the only issues and every available ECM update/routine checkpoint service has been performed by _ _ _ _ _ HD where I bought the motorcycle except the alternator replacement which was done at Doyle Bros. HD in Eugene, OR while on a road trip. Honestly, I really love this bike.
As I understand it, the bike is still available for an extended factory warranty without any hassle from HD and if you are local, _ _ _ _ _ HD has reassured me that they have and will stand behind any product they have sold to a consumer regardless of when HD/Buell end relations. I hope this helps".

The 09 and 10 1125s have a higher output stator. It creates more heat and there have been cases where the stator gets to hot and fails. This is what most likely happened to this bike... it sounds like the bike has a new charging system. Ebr (Erik buell racing) will machine an oil jet in your rotor that will keep oil on the stator.
Conclusion: buy the bike and get the ebr rotor mod.

The bikes downfall is the charging system. It will fail with out aftermarket upgrades. period.

1) You need a stator that is rewound with higher spec wire and epoxy. about 150.00-180.00 depending on who does it

2) You need the EBR rotor that has an oil jet machined to help cool the stator. 250.00 with a core exchange required

3) probably a good idea to upgrade the regulator rectifier as well. lot of options. The Compufire model 55402 200.00

I know I know, seems like a lot. It really is not too bad. Once done you will probably not have other issues. Just the usual motorcycle stuff

I love my 2009 1125R... is it possible to love a machine? I think so

don't forget clutch weep- an easy fix
i have a 2009 cr and love it so far no stator issues

Well what kind of riding are you doing?
I would buy it either way but the stock stator and traffic can play hell with the charging system. If the clutch weeps it's an easy inexpensive fix other than those 2 problems they are near bulletproof.

I saw that one on PDX Craigslist. The best deal I have seen in the last 3 years.

By the way, as you may already know Latus Motors is great to work with.

awesome clubmans better for carving. The rotor is the real problem and can be upgraded easy enough but the machines don't like traffic either way this was made to ride

To: "Dannybuell", How come you havent bought it then? The owner let me call Latus, its been in their shop 8-9 times for all these different issues that everyone else has been having with the 09's.
it also broke down on him on the road and had to have more electrical work done on his trip out of town. This just does not sound good to me, I dont know if I can justify buying this bike with re-curring problems and especially with no warranty. noe.

If you need a warranty on a motorcycle, then you should probably stick to cars. just my opinion, but motorcyclists should be able to repair their own bikes.

The big issue is the rotor/stator. Once you repair it CORRECTLY those electrical issues will be no more.

You must plan on doing the correct repair at some point after you buy the bike.

Anyone have feedback on these bikes I am also interested in: 07 Aprilia RSV 1000R, Triumph Triple Speed, Ducati S2? I would prefer to have something Fun but, also something not Everyone else is riding either. The Aprilia has excellent write ups and reviews on it, reliability is supposed to be excellent! I really would prefer a V Motor bike with Fun Factor.

I know the market you are in, price a valve adjustment on all of the models you are looking at. Look at the service intervals and cost them out. the stator will look like nothing compared to a Ducati or Aprilia. Latus HD has Triumph now so that will be easy.

I am able to do most if not all work on bikes, been doing it for years, valve adjustments are easy just takes some time to get it right.
I am just not reading on here where people have made these fixes and then everything is fixed... no more problems. Many people are saying what and how to fix the problems but, I am Not seeing where everyone is satisfied with their bikes after their work on their bikes are completed?
How many folkes on here that own 09 1125CR bikes have fixed their common issues and are now riding their bikes and have No more re-occuring breakdowns?
I do all my own work on my vehicles and bikes and quads, i am actually better than most Certified Mechanics as my repairs or upgrades do not have any problems afterwords : )

I replaced one stator, with an EBR rotor several months ago.
No problems since.
Also replaced just the rotor with an EBR rotor. running fine.

I have an 08 R with 29k miles, X2086.1AM clutch weep fix, done 2 years ago... dry puck.

The problems ALL have solutions... now.
Shoulda been here 4 years ago.

I installed an 08 rotor & stator in both my 09 CR's, EBR ECM & Baldwin seat

7,000 miles on 1 & 4,000 on the other. No problems other than wearing out rear tires

The two major issues with '09's are the stator overheating and clutch weep. If the stator is replaced with the upgraded stator with the aforementioned cooling path then this will no longer be a concern. The weeping clutch mastercylinder needs to be replaced and the work done properly. If installed incorrectly I read the O-ring fails and the clutch MC weeps again.

I have an '08 and it had all the recalls and upgraded parts done to it at 15k miles. It now has 27k miles and has been 100% reliable. I would ride it across the country. I also ride it in traffic here in SoCal, everyday even in summer and it has not had any issues.

My CR has 11600 miles on it I replaced the clutch parts with ebr @8500 no worries since then. I also have replaced the relay on the "fix" twice and charging system is still working fine. The only other problem I had with it is killing tires and wearing out grips

my CR has 18,000 miles.

clutch weep warranty at 6Kmi?

stator replaced at 2,000 miles on warranty.

09 oil spec is 2.7 qts, I and others here add more oil. I add 3.3 qts Amsoil 20w50 with the hope that the stator will run cooler. I use the S1 for city riding and the CR for country riding.
