Hi folks, since I have a 98 S3T I am normally looking at the old school forum. However,I have a customer with an 09 1125 CR at my shop with the fuel warning light coming on with a full or nearly full tank of fuel. The customer noticed this while riding in cold weather. starting when warm does not solve the problem have any 1125 owners experienced this?

Yep, fairly common issue, there are two causes of the failure, one is a bug in the instrument cluster, and the other has to do with the fuel level sensor in the fuel pump. The fix is to replace either the cluster or the pump depending on which one is the cause. Neither of which is cheap.

Most of those that have the issue simply ignore it.

Short and sweet answer is:

If the CEL/LFL come on at key-on and go off when reaching OpTemp, replace the cluster(IC).
If the CEL/LFL come on when reaching OpTemp, the thermistor(fuel sensor) is out of range. Replace the pump assembly.

Zack

<edit>Or, as Froggy says, ignore it. Keep track of miles/tank like the "old days".

I've got use to this when the weathers gets cold my fuel light and engine light come on. It seems its an air temp fault I just ignore it now but I did have the instrument cluster replaced under warranty and it made no difference

My cluster was replaced and now my light either comes on too late or not at all. Sweet to run out of gas at 5am on the way to work in the rain. Am not going off trip meter until I bring it in.
