I took the bike in on Thursday to have a modified rotor fitted and luckily took my brand new spare stator with me that i'd picked up a couple of months ago off ebay ..... the old stator which has done approx 8000 miles with the relay mod looked like it was on the verge of failure with one pole in particular very very dark and crispy, so lets see what life we get out of this setup (the original stator lasted 3000 miles ) This is a modified stator as per the EBR one but done aftermarket in the uk but the machining looked first class. As a note the bike was still charging at between 13.8 and 14.1 volts on my way to the dealers with the old stator in so I guess the winding was still working. I had noticed that there was a burnt elec smell if you sniffed around the bike the last few weeks with no external signs of problems ..... last time I noticed that smell was just prior to the first stator failure ; )

Is there a price for modifying a rotor sent in and having it machined, instead of having one fitted? I am the wrong side of the country.

They charged £150 for the machining. Not sure what they'd do regarding surcharge on yours as they did the swap over on mine... unless you planned on sending your own over to be machined.

Thanks, yes I will send mine over to them to get it done, hopefully in the next few weeks. This is good news for those of us in the UK.
