From what I remember it is just unplugging the connections for the turn signals/license plate light, unbolt the original fender extensions, bolt up the fender eliminator, put on the turn signals, and reconnect electrical connections.

It's been about 3 years since I did mine but I don't remember anything difficult or any tricks needed.

And look at the bottom of your taillight lens and you'll see an easy answer to a license plate light.

im not planning on altering the brake light, shouldnt there be enough ambient light from the brake/running light without modifying? plus at night the car behind me should illuminate the reflective tag.

im guessing people mod and light just for LEO?

I got the little ebay black license plate bolts with an led light built in, plenty bright. And yes I did them just to be legal. I try not to find reasons to invite LEOs to have a conversation with me.

like Ridegrn sez - you don't want to give LEO's a reason to stop you...

Just the one, I didn't make any modifications.

well i couldnt stand only having 1 bolt, and i buggered up some oblonged holes to allow use of all three bolts, i'm so glad it's under the bike and can't be seen the holes were hard to guage, but at least it's strong enough to do pull ups on

just got my first look at dark and even with the paper dealer plate there seems to be enough light from the brake/park lamp to light the plate without modification, are your LEO's just buttholes? If a LEO's pulling me over the last thing i'm afraid of is a tag light violation.

I doubt I ever would've gotten pulled over for not having license plate lights, but it's still a violation and they possibly could pull me over for it. I just have the mindset of better be safe then sorry. I'm not trying to preach follow ever law to the T ever, just my reasoning behind it.

bottom line is if you pass a hidden LEO at 10 over and he wants to pull you, your getting pulled tag light or no. so dont run or act a fool by going 10 over, you get pulled for just a tag light then that LEO is just on the rag

OP, I installed the Jardine Fender eliminator this Spring. Very easy / straightforward. To allow light to shine on the license plate (which you SHOULD do), no need to add L.E.D. bolts or worry about any of that jazz. Take 5 minutes and a simply ~$29.99 Dremel from Wal-Mart if you don't already have one... and carve a bit of the black plastic out from directly beneath the tail light. There is already a white lens to protect the bulb from the elements.

In retrospect, I could have polished the edges, but my Dremel was only 1-speed = "Liquify Rubber".

I have it installed with just one bolt but I put a backup nut on the inside to prevent the bolt from coming loose.

After reading this post it made me want to check my bolt since I added nothing additional to hold it on. I install it 3 years ago when I bought the bike and it is still as solid as ever.
