According to manual… bike can be jacked by muffler. Anybody tried this? I planned a long trip this weekend and need to change bearings. Pit Bull stand will take a week to get here. No rafters, maybe a tree branch. Shop has shut down so no gov't job to adapt another stand. | ||

Yes - works well with a heavy hydraulic floor jack,( might want to build a cradle out of wood to spread the load and not put any dents in the muffler from the jack's metal "pad" but don't expect it to stay "balanced" while you work on the bike...might try to build a "chock" for the front wheel out of 2 x 4s...make the front piece that is on the ground perpendicular to the bike long ( 4-5 ft)- install some eye bolts near the ends ( with washers and nuts thru the 2 x4 - do not use the "wood screw" type) and use some tie-downs to tie the bars to the eye bolts - not too much tension - it's only wood - but it may help you balance the bike while you work on the rear wheel. do a search on the site there are some other examples out there...good luck - just remember gravity is always working..it never takes a break | ||

Yes, I used a piece of wood between the jack and muffler definitely very very tippy, hence the buckets (Message edited by sprintst on August 07, 2012) | ||

For the rear wheel I just flipped my driver pegs to the opposite side (so they fold down) and then put jack stands under each peg. Front wheel is a bit more tricky but I used the side stand as one fulcrum point and a floor jack under the clutch basket as a second point to "tip the front wheel off the ground. The rear end was still quite light so I added some weight (my son) to the rear pillion until I got the wheel off. | ||

I was told by the mechanic that services my CR that they were told on the Buell course to jack where the welds are on the exhaust. |
