Im hoping some one with knowledge of the engine roataion process can help me here I have been 10 hours trying to get the 6 bolts that hold the motor in the 4 rear ones went ok the K brackets I managed to force one, I have taken it out as they should not need to be forced I cant find any thing that is hitting causing the motor to twist, I have loosened the ties holding the bike to the table, I have repeatedly raised and lowered the motor, the bike shifts on the stand I have tried prying on the motor and frame if some one has any ideas that make sense chime in I'm stuck I need to finish by weeks end or the thing may set for months the more I work on the 1125 the better I like my X1  | ||

I went step by step in the service manual no problems did you skip any steps? When taking out the shims put rags every where around the cams don't ask me how I know this. | ||

you have the K brackets loose on the motor? | ||

Up to 30 min ago I followed the book step by step, I cant get it lined up, tried removing rear motor mount bolts ( bad screw up ) trying to get right bolt back in, cut 02 sensor wire may have other issues, no I have not removed or loosened the k bolts on motor yet, its not in the instructions I pulled the rear around on the table trying to get the right rear mount bolt back in center( bushing side ) the center of the K's are still 1/2 hole out, I have looked and looked and perhaps missed a pinched item I cant see any thing from the top.... dennis the motor is buttoned up and went as expected , I expected to install the 4 mounting bolts the 2 center ones went in the k brackets sit 1/2 hole off to the left as seen from the front. now the o2 connector for the front is laying on the table ...... as of now 2 center bolts are in, the left rear is in, the right rear is 1/2 hole off to the rear K brackets are 1/2 hole off to the right no combo of straps jacks shaking pushing or prying seems to help, looking at the engine from the top I cant see whats binding the wires that I can get to are free, the vacuum hose is movable throttle cables seem ok, HELP ... | ||

   UP DATE: I placed a jack on a boss on the engine case ( under the dip stick ) and lifted, the 4 main bolts are in as I walked around front the 5th bolt was in perfect alignment so its in, I checked the procedure and caught at step 8 that you tighten the engine bolt on the K bracket, I cant recall where they are removed, so I loosened it placed bolt 6 ( left K bracket ) so all 6 motor mount bolts are in and will be torqued to spec shortly A BIG THANKS TO ALL WHO HAVE RESPONDED TO MY CALLS FOR HELP ! I PROMISE TO PAY IT FORWARD ..  | ||

Good to know all is going well so far. Installed that muffler yet? LOL! It's frustrating the first time...maybe even the 2nd time. Wait until you try to bolt up the muffler up front. You will love it. Hint: Raise the motor to align the holes and you may have to use a long screw driver to "persuade" those bolt holes to kind of line up. Do it very gently. | ||

Installed that muffler yet? LOL! No still in the process WTF! I have been balancing it on my jack, an wiggling it up on the headers got the front bolt cross threaded, so I pulled it down and chased the bolts and nuts with my hand tools I bet they start easier I will have to use lock tite I am wondering about if I want to subject my self to this again BTW how did you get to the front right bolt up by the header joint? } | ||

I used an allen socket with an extension. If you have a 1/4" socket set and multi bit screw driver, that may do the trick. I also have an allen key set that has a ball on one end. It makes it so you can go in on an agle and still work the screw. Good luck my friend. |
