I have an 08 1125r and want a good mechanic. I have had some people say they can work on them but i would rather have a shop.
Thanks

Looks like there's an Aprilla shop in Richmond..

If they've been working on them since the Rotax days...

if you've got the $, your local harley shop would be where i'd check first. at least they'd have all the right tools and all the software and manuals and service bullitens.
and maybe even one of the mechanics has changed the oil on an 1125 before!

it's kinda a crap shoot anywhere else, as these are not your typical I-4.
just walk away if they don't know what kind of bike you have but tell you "it doesn't matter, I can work on any bike. Just bring it down to my shop, and ...."

Check with Ratbuell first, but Frederick in MD would be my 1st recommendation. He used to work there & may know if the mechanics there have kept up or not.

I moved away from that area over 7 yrs. ago, so take my advice w/ a grain of salt.

I bought my bike from Frederick HD. Rat was the salesman, I have no complaints with that transaction. Frederick HD was also the servicing dealer while the bike was under warranty. I cannot recommend their service department.
I don't know if Battley still services Buells, they bought the first one from Erik, so maybe?

Thanks for the answers guys. I went to a shop supposed to be great and they had never seen a 1125r and said " never worked on one before but they do a lot of work on aprilias" and i wasn't very impressed with the dyno results compared others with similar setups. I mean right at 10rwhp less than everyone else. Kinda pi$$ed me off. They were also pretty rude when i told them that too. Saying that there dyno sheets were prob all false.

What do you need done? I've worked on all kinda' bikes & I was a military heavy equipment mechanic. Haven't really gotten into my 1125 yet....mostly it would be cool to have someone to ride with, I'ms outh of Manassas..haymarket.

And I don't know about haveing an HD dealer do your oil, my bike had 2000 miles on it and the break in oil change had been mangled...

Colonial Harley Davidson has worked on my 1125 CR from day one and they have always done me right. They even got a few items fixed for me out of warranty so I have no complaints with them.

NKva was this shop with the dyno stuff a certain superbike place out by the airport.

If so thats kinda funny. I had a very similar experience with a xb there with a micron fitted. Ultimately I have decided to not return also.

That being said virtually any shop i have visited makes me not want to deal with them in any terms that requires me to trust them with anything other than a part purchase or something with a set price.

Redline down in yorktown occasionally deals in a used buell and seem like knowledgable guys. I'd take my bike there if i absolutely couldn't/wouldn't fix it myself.
