The engagement zone of my clutch has been slowly migrating out towards the beginning of the lever's travel. In fact, it now totally disengages in only the first half inch of travel. The slave cylinder has obviously been leaking. Is failure imminent?

It'll only get worse. Repair it with one of the suggestions you'll find in threads on this website A.S.A.P.
