I was initially concerned that something was coming out of the engine that was causing corrosion but after looking at the picture in prep for this post it looks like there is something leaking from the head? If you look above and to the left of the left flange bolt it looks like there is some fastener/protrusion that has something dripping down onto the right header runner. Anybody able to offer some insight? Is this something to be seriously concerned about, something to watch, option c? I've only had the bike for 3 days, it has 1,250 miles on it.

clean it off, and see if it comes back.

What would be leaking from that location, and more importantly WHY?

Are your valve cover bolts tightened enough? Could be a slooooow weep from the gasket. Also could just be a bug that was wiped out right there and it kinda cooked to that look.

You might be stressing over nothing. Since you just bought the bike, wipe it off and monitor. If it is anything it would be a valve cover gasket leak. May be there was some debris on the gasket or sealing surface during the last assembly.

Very accurate statement.

Cleaned up the head/cylinder, turns out it must have just been a bug or some other material as there was not really any type of oil or sludge residue in the area or on the rag after I wiped the matter away. Cleaned up the header a decent amount with Mother's Mag wheel polish as recommended in other threads, so I'll just have to wait and see what develops.
