how has this not happened yet? I think the vapor would have enough pressure to keep the flame from going into tank, but what about lighting surrounding things on fire ?

There's no ignition source, so there's no smoke. There's no smoke, so there's no fire. No fire, no problem. ; )

I always tell people not to smoke around the bike. Usually as a joke, but there have been some times where the bike is putting out some decent fumes and drips.

I've never heard of a motorcycle catching fire from the vent hose. Not only is there no ignition source, you need the right air to fuel ratio for combustion to happen. Too much air or fuel and it won't easily ignite. Mythbusters proved that on several occasions.

Under very unique circumstances, you could possibly have a condition wherein a flame could possibly chase up the vent tube to the tank, but I'm thinking it's in the probability range of winning Powerball twice in a week.

On hot days, don't top off the tank. Whatever you do, don't block the vent tube. True story - mine got too close to the header and melted and sealed closed. Hot day, running the bike hard - - open the gas cap, thus releasing built-up pressure. Hot gas in the tank instantly goes from liquid to vapor state, erupting into a geyser right into my face. I swear it shot a column of spray 8 feet into the air for a couple of seconds. Not fun - just glad no one was smoking nearby.

Other than that, Rpm4x4 +1
