So some of you may have seen my post here last month when my 1125R was stolen. Remarkably, they recovered it...

...but not before the dumbasses who stole it spray painted it black with purple.

I have most of the fairing stuff. Thoughts on replacing vs having a body shop strip and repaint?

Well, there's not a drop of paint on them from the factory. Metal is powdercoated; bodywork is dyed-in color.

Could be your chance to do something custom? But if you want stock...I'd have the insurance foot the bill for new bodywork.

Rat's right - the bodywork isn't painted, so you can use paint remover (sparingly) to strip most of that we todded ness off.

Ask around at our sponsoring dealers for a deal on all new parts. I bought new airbox cover, fender, flyscreen (CR), and main body parts for a bit over $400 when I wanted to go black (was red). Spray your pods matte black to match the frame and you're good. Cheaper and easier than paint, and you have a spare set-up to do with as you wish. Maybe sell to offset cost of new.
