There were some metal shavings in my oil drain plug, and a few in my oil screen.
my dealer swapped out the stator about 2k miles ago, and this my first oil change since then. I'm thinking the dealer left some crap in the engine, as it looks like some stator epoxy was on the drain plug. Do u think this damaged the engine?

Have you ever had the screen out?

That seems to be a lot of metal. I'd clean it up and ride it another 1K miles and change again, dropping the screen too.

Have you pulled apart your oil filter?

Yikes!

(that'll teach you to trust that the dealer did a thorough and competent job) - hopefully it's just leftovers that got caught on the first pass through....

Yeah, I pull the screen every oil change.
This was my third oil change.
The first two were clean, no debris.
This one was after the dealer changed the stator, should I call the dealer an complain?
Do u think this damaged the engine?

I'd show the dealer what you found. That is alot of metal.

How many hours on the engine since you had stator service? Any noticeable change in engine noise?

Wow that seems to be fairly large pieces of metal for normal wear and tear. Engine ran strong otherwise and made no unusual noises or vibrations? I personally am a little OCD when it comes to stuff like this so I don’t think I would run it much more than what is necessary for diagnostic purpose until I found the source.
Hard to tell from the pictures, but can you determine what the debris looks like or where it came from? i.e. the picture of the magnetic plugs almost looks like it has a gear tooth at the 11:00 o’clock position. The little circular piece in your fingers maybe looks like part of snap ring or something. My advice would be to grab the parts and shop manuals and start looking for things that you suspect are ferrous and look like they might fit the shape of the debris (tranny gears, cam gears, balance shaft gears, starter gears, maybe roller bearings, fasteners, washers, etc.)
Good luck – Yikes!

I may be mistaken, but that doesn't look like normal debris from changing a stator. I just changed my rotor, and pulled out my burnt stator, and wouldn't expect to see any debris in the motor afterwards. No snap rings or anything involved in either job either.

My old rotor did start to flake off some of the epoxy that holds the magnet insert in, and I got pieces of that in my screen, but they weren't magnetic or metally at all.

The bike has about 2k miles on it since the stator service. No change in noise. When i first started it after the oil change it made a strange noise for 2 seconds, it sounded a bit like the cam chains were loose.

Agree with Baf -- hard to imagine those bits came from a stator.

Its a 2010 engine, i don't believe those need that recall. The 2010 engine's were updated from the factory.

i wonder if they might have sheared an old sealing washer when they put the plugs back in.

The washers were present on both sides. The one i took pictures of was way over torqued.

Did anyone figure out what caused this? I'm trying to access my log in info but I just did an oil change and have 2225 miles on the odo and it came out looking the same. I'm shocked and would like to know what the problem is. I did not check my screen but I had large metal objects on the magnet and I could see smaller shavings all throughout the oil filter.

I have not had a stator replaced yet. Any updates would be appreciated.
