Went to the races at RA and a friend and I hopped on our bikes several times and rode them to different turns. The last turn we rode to was when the storm was picking up and I ended up driving through a dust devil. When it came time to start the bike up to go home it didn't start with the usual bark that it has on start-up. It was kinda slow and weak. I noticed on the way home that it wasn't running quite right either.

Today I took it out (hot day) and noticed that at stoplights I had to rev on it more to get it to pull out smoothly or it would seem like it wanted to choke out. Kinda felt like when a MAF is going bad. It even stalled on me at one point and I could definately smell fuel. When riding around at cruising speed it seemed very hesitant, like it was fouling up. On decel and low speed riding it backfired a lot as well. It would even let out a little pop when I clutched to upshift. As I rode around more it seemed to have gotten worse to the point where the idle didn't sound the same, and it was idling at lower RPMS than I was used to seeing. If I pulled it up to higher RPMS it came back to life and smoothed out but then the moment I let off and cruised it returned to being sluggish.

Looking for a second opinion here. I think riding it back and forth at RA without letting it get warmed up caused the plugs to get build-up, hence the crappy restart before the ride home, and the continually worsening of condition. All ideas are welcome. KEDA RT-3/EBR ECM

Ive read here and in the book (maint) that the plugs are self cleaning when you do short starts and runs. Also there is a manual way of getting the plugs to self clean. Basically it's making the plugs fire off 3 or so times without fuel to clean deposits. I'm not near my book cuz I'm doing my military drill but I'm sure someone here can inform how to put the bike into self clean mode. I think it has to do with turning the key off and on a few times but not for sure right now. Also when was the last time the air filter was cleaned or at least shaken out?

Engine heat is what keeps plugs clean. In the bike shop I worked
in, the showroom was a breeding ground for
"plugitus". Frequent starts for a few seconds
at customer requests often resulted in no-
starts or poor running because plugs fouled
in engines that never reached operating
temperatures....
