Hey guys I got some new rubber put on the 25R about a month ago. I went to my usual tire place "Iron Pony Motorsports" I've gone here for several years they have a great tire selection and walk ins are accepted on Sunday. Anyway the last time I went I was one pissed off dude! they lifted my bike by putting a jack under my FMF exhaust mid pipe!!!! They also scratched my wheels. and the front mount on my exhaust is now broken with a nice big exhaust leak! I said "you shouldn't lift the bike like that it's not designed for it" They replied "we change tires on over 35 bikes a day this is how we do every sportbike. Stupid F%$^ing people these days! You've been warned don't let these tards touch your pride and joy!

That stinks.

Does the stock 1125 exhaust have built in jack points like the XB's do? Or can you not even jack those up by the cans when they are still stock?

I am having the exhaust fixed for free but the wheels suck! I probably won't bother. I just don't want to see someone else post about the same thing happening to them!

Most sportbikes CAN be lifted using the downpipes as a jack point. However, the key words here are "most bikes". An 1125R with an aftermarket exhaust does not fall into that category. This is why I take my own wheels off and bring them to Cycle Gear. They have never scratched any of my wheels. They are always careful and checks it over with you.

This is what I do too.

It takes longer, and it involves driving a car. But I know the bike is lifted right, I can get a bunch of other stuff done while it's chilling in the air, and I haven't had any issues with them scratching my wheels yet.

It's not possible to expect mechanics who have never worked on an XB type Buell to know how to remove the front wheel (or even rear wheel) properly. They could have 20 years experience removing Japanese motorcycle wheels but give them an XB and I guarantee you they will scratch their heads trying to figure that out. Let alone using the proper torque values.

I'm no mechanic and I would know better than to lift 420 lbs with a single pipe!

Best to tell them how. Don't assume
they know. I walked into a shop recently,
and a "mechanic" was struggling to replace a front
Buell rotor with the wheel between the
forks. I said "what was wrong with the rotor?".

He said, "nothing; it had to come
off to remove the wheel"... And all that
with the shop owner standing nearby. Later,
I told the shop owner the rotor did not, and
should not be removed. He mumbled a curt
"thanks"...

Ya that place is a joke anyway. They always say we will beat any competitors price and they dont. I tried to get them to price match sportbiketrackgear.com price and they wouldn't even come close. That's when I cut ties with them.

I got a harbor freight real wheel stand for 30 bucks last year, and when I do tires I put it on that and hag the front from the ceiling.

Sucks you had to lean the hard way. Id ask to talk the highest swinging di#k there and ask him if he would appreciate them doing this to his bike. Followed buy now what are you going to do to fix it.
