My mirror housing cracked during a move. There's a hairline crack at the mounting end of the plastic enclosure, and the mirror is loose. It had been OK, just a bit more vibration than normal, but it suddenly started getting quite bad, and the mirror is flopping about a lot now.

I've ordered a replacement, but American Sport Bike is out - there's a 2 week backorder on them.

Unfortunately, I'm hoping to do a ride this next weekend of the "all day" variety, and I'd rather my mirror not fall off.

Does anyone have experience with repairs that will hold up for at least a few hundred miles? I've considered using superglue to try and hold it together, but I'm not sure it will actually hold against the vibration.

Alternately, does anyone have an OEM left 1125R mirror they'd be willing to ship out so it would arrive this week?

Have you considered the trick of using a bead of silicone around the edge of the mirror, between the glass and the plastic? A lot of people do that to decrease vibration, but it would probably help to secure the glass to the mount.

Alternatively, if it's the stem that's bad, have you considered wrapping it in rescue tape?

Sorry, the post may have been unclear.

The plastic "end housing" cracked where it attaches to the metal stem, due to the bike having stuff pressed against it in a moving van. As a result, the plastic end housing flaps about a lot.

I think I'm going to try superglue initially, but a wrap of tape around it to help hold it might be a very good idea. I'm replacing the unit at some point, so I don't care about a "forever-fix." Just a "Good enough for a few hundred miles" fix.

I have both mirrors available for sale. Make an offer. I won't be able to ship until wednesday.

I did use black silicone around the mirror between the glass and the black housing to help dampen vibration. the mirror is still adjustable.
