So I started playing with tunerpro, with some help from Mike Cobb (optimizer(sp)) this program is simple to use.

Started with simply reducing engine braking- one entry save it back to the ECM -WAM done!!!!!! Think I'm going to reduce it a little more but wow is this program simple.

I do have to say that it is imtimidating at first. I've had it on my computer for almost a year and it finally started to click how it works.

Think I'm going to start doing some data logging to check my maps. As I think there is some more available between 6k-8k rpms.

Very cool!! Are you using the stock ECM? Where did you get the cable from the computer to ECM?

I will check his site out. I know what I will be playing with this summer. Thanks for the response.

After having good luck with TuneECU loading a map and adjusting the speedo correction on my Speed Triple, I figured I'd give the same a try with my 1125R. I used an old copy of ECMSpy (v1.12.27, copyrighted 2008) to pull the EEPROM from my bike. ECMSpy indicated that it was a BUE2D firmware so I downloaded the appropriate XDF from ECMSpy.com. However, when I open the fuel maps in ECMSpy or in TunerPro, I have seemingly random numbers in the column and row labels, and in the cells themselves. I tried all of the other XDFs that were listed as being 1125R-compatible, but had no improvement in the values or column/row titles.

I downloaded and installed the current version of ECMRead and will pull the EEPROM from my 1125R and see how it looks. I figure maybe the old version of ECMSpy might predate my EB R ECM. (This version of ECMSpy appears to be fully functional otherwise, unlike the current version which apparently will only work in demo mode if you don't buy it. Of course, it doesn't do me any good if the old ECMSpy won't properly read the EEPROM!)

ecmspy does not play with the 1125r/cr there are a few things that ecmspy will do on the 1125r/cr tps reset live data couple others do not repeat do not try and write a map using ecmspy to your 1125r/cr

the ebr ecm may or may not i do not have direct experience with the ebr ecm and tunerpro rt

Thanks for the caveat, Boogiman. I'll use ECMRead instead. (Good thing I am away from home for a few days or I would have probably tried uploading the EEPROM with ECMSpy.)

The two things I want to accomplish are changing the fan settings (the EB R ECM turns on the fans at 166F and off at 147F--so pretty much once they turn on while the bike is running, they will never turn off) and smoothing out cruising between 3000-5000rpm. I'm going to set the fans to come on at 180F and go off at 170F, since the bike seems to run at around 166F when just cruising down the road. And I figure a little extra fuel in the low-midrange would smooth up 3000-5000. (The EB R ECM is better than stock in the 3000-5000 cruising range, but it's still not all that smooth.)

In fact, I may disable the O2s and do some global enrichment. The motor never really seems like it likes to rev. My Speed Triple and my VFR800 seem happy at pretty much any RPM, but the 1125 feels "coarse" when up over 5000rpm.

TuneECU (for my Speed Triple) lets me specify target AFR for closed loop riding. I'm guessing TunerPro does that as well? Richening up closed loop target AFR would probably make the bike run more smoothly while cruising.

Are there any recommended settings for the 1125R? Or perhaps a tuning guide explaining which settings are worth tweaking? (I haven't spent much time with Tunerpro yet, but there are a LOT of settings!)

lol indeed there are. the basics from the ecm site are sound practices and a good starting point theory wise.

interestingly as i am no guru myself i can't seem to recall when the no fuel on decel is....

Decel fuel is Factory at 96% vs map... it is in Tunerpro scalar area... less is less fuel vs map and less engine breaking. more is more breaking.

One bike of mine run 105 the other 80... both run great.

if your use to ECMspy and merging to Tunerpro... Do not use the .TXT file. it will be all messy. open the file as all files and select the .epr file. Then it will be OK again.

If your fetching with Tunerpro RT. it will save as a .bin file. which is native to Tunerpro...

Tunerpro will burn in a changed data to the bike with both the .epr, .xpr or .bin file...

Mike or anyone else that can answer - When I log data using Tuner Pro I always see “glitches” in the data where all the sensor data either Max’s or Min’s out (RPM, TPS, MAP, etc). Averages about 30 glitches every minute although there isn’t a consistent rhythm. Could be a couple of glitches in a row and then nothing for a couple of seconds and then another glitch or two. It even shows these glitches in the data i.e. RPMs that normally make” the whirly parts see daylight” as Court would say. Could it be some sort of communication speed mismatch between my PC and the Serial to USB converter (cable) or maybe between the converter and ECM? Did this on my old XP laptop and does it on my W7 too. Suggestions or ideas on what to tweak?
Appreciate any and all suggestions.

It is the IO speed on the data. Its a Packets thing and since the data collects so fast it does not have time to verify every time and that causes the wild values.
We know all about this error and Nothing can be done about it since it is a direct wired connection. Since the wire is connected if it has an error (Such as data sent is 1010101011101 and the reciving end says it is 1010101011011 you get a recorded error due to being directly wired. Now if you are wireless (such as BT) this looks for a direct match and if the packet did not match it will drop the packet entirely. This was not planned on the BT it was a side effect which is a benefit.

You can use almost any BT to RS232 chip on Tunerpro and the Palm version of Ecmspy but not the Old style ecmspy. The old ecmspy is very picky on connection as most BT rs232 mods are transmitting on two ports at once. the Old ecmspy is limited to one actual port and will not function on some chips. you want a v5 ttl rs232 to BT or WIFI chip with 12v or 5v VCC power supply for it.

Thanks for the info Mike - I was starting to pull my hair out! By chance do you have a good supplier/part number for a ttl -> BT that runs on 12V supply? Also, you think those will tolerate battery voltage or would you recommend soldering in a small PCB sized regulator to trim it to 12v exactly? I suppose I could rig up a small battery box with a 2-4 D cells and trim it down to 3.3V or 5V with a regulator.

I guess before I go off and reinvent the wheel here, sounds like you already have a set up that is working - what suggestions/tips can you offer in the way of parts and assembly?

Thanks again

I'm not sure where this misinformation is coming from...
I've successfully used ECMSpy to write maps to my 2008 1125R with a BUE2D ECM several times in the past, including last Thursday.
It works fine.

Yes, I'm using the Mono version now. But the earlier release worked fine, too.
