Perhaps because a "cruising motorcycle" doesn't really corner that well on a good day, and all it takes is one slow bike in a pack to slow the whole pack down?  Also, BS on 153. If everyone else is running the 80s or 90s through there, I seriously doubt someone is running 50+ faster. They may have gotten a measurement of the tire speed or something - I've had speed radar get very confused on the 1125. ... and finally, while I know it's a double yellow in several of the passes shown, they were perfectly safe passes for a sportbike. Just because a car can't pass in that distance doesn't mean something that accelerates rapidly can't make a safe pass in the same area. Illegal, yes. Unsafe? Not really. | ||

200 mph on the clock and it's not even at 10k yet? Anybody with 1/2 a brain can see it's on the wrong side of the road and those would be klicks. But, where would the outrage and hyperbole come from then? | ||

You're right -- we all know that a Prius or a tractor/trailer isn't going to have the same passing power as a sportbike, so it's sad that that double yellow line still applies to everyone. It's funny -- when you ride a sportbike, people expect you to make "illegal" passes like that. I can't tell you how many times I've been going down rural highways and lined up behind the traffic to wait to execute a "legal" pass. When I do that, people are constantly waving me on, as if to say, "go ahead an pass here, we know you can do it." Then they're disappointed when I don't make the pass. Sometimes they seem offended if you don't make the pass. Seems like a shame to get whacked with a ticket for doing something that makes sense, is totally safe, but remains illegal. | ||

Looking at the white lines going by, it sure doesn't feel like he's going as fast as his instruments say. I agree, it looks like there's something fishy going on with the speedo cal. | ||

Everybody knows Japanese bikes are notorious for speedo's that aren't accurate. 200km but not 200mph for sure. | ||
