I'm looking at buying an 1125R that the owner states has been sitting idle for a couple years. It's an 09 and to my knowledge it was started only once since it was parked in his garage a couple years ago. On top of that it was parked with Stabil in the tank and when he did start it the one time the condensation spat out and was red.

Given those circumstances what should I be worried about in terms of seals etc? What kind of things should I check prior to purchasing said bike?

I would wonder why such a new bike has sat for a couple of years. As you stated, the bike started. Heavy condensation means that the bike was started, idled for a short time, then shut down. Multiple times!!!!! Very hard on any internal combustion engine.

I bought my 2000 X1 Lightning in December of 2010 and there was a river of water running out of the stock muffler at first (dealer bike). After changing the Engine Temperature Sensor and the O2 Sensor, plus new plugs, it ran out fine.

Buy it if you trust the seller.

It will be an inter-city purchase. Owner states that it sat due to it being too tall for him after he had already purchased it. Dropped it on himself and fractured a leg.

i'd advise having a local HD/Buell shop check it out, if that's an option.

if not, plan on a battery and engine oil... gasoline has come a long way over the years, but it'd be advisable to atleast drain the old fuel and replace with new... and you might make a trip to the local HD/Buell shop and see if they have some fuel injector cleaner.

of course check the air filter, replace the oil filter (with the oil), check tire pressure and check them for dry-rot.

May want to change the brake/clutch fluids as well.

I recently pulled cars out of storage after 8+ years.

Changed the oil.

Put in a fresh battery.

Cranked until I saw oil pressure.

Started, and drove.

The 1125 is spec'd for long life coolant so I wouldn't worry about that. Change the oil and filter so you have fresh in the case, check the tires, and ride it. Gently till the old gas is out. Maybe stop at 1/2 tank to top off with fresh premium, but that depends how its running.

Don't overthink it. It's a motorcycle, not the Space Shuttle.
