Just AWESOME! I was amazed at the hole shot, too. Can't wait to see the first 1190 prepped for drag racing. If only I had half the skill that Higbee has, man.... just get an adrenaline rush from watching it. |

Great video as usual Rob! Thanks for sharing. I'd rather watch your videos than WSBK or MotoGP any day. Nice to see Steve make an appearance too. |

Does wipe the floor with the other bikes Can someone please engineer a wheel with 2x ZTL calipers, one on each side, that will make me happy :£ |

avalaugh that'd be some serious stopping power with much reserve capacity. weight concerns? maybe back to typical supersport front end weight? |

Don't forget who is riding... If I was on an 1190RS, and Shawn Higbee was on a KLR-250, he could still wipe the floor relative to me. |

I have to say that Shawn brakes like a madman and has never complained about the ZTL. Even at Daytona it wasn't an issue. The problem we had at Willow was due to putting Shawn's brake setup on the 1190 at the last minute. One we got it fully bled, it was great. |

Can someone please engineer a wheel with 2x ZTL calipers, one on each side, that will make me happy :£ I know I've seen one. I think it was a German Co./individual. Seems damn heavy as a dual. My 8-pot on Loretta practically launches me everytime I touch it. 6-pot on the Uly, not so bad... Z |

Wheel spokes preclude left side ZTL brake. No place for the caliper to mount that won't be in the way of the spokes as they turn. The dual perimeter disk was a Brake King aftermarket deal. More for show than performance I think. It mounts on a standard type wheel and protrudes off the side quite a bit. |

Seems silly to talk doubling up on the brakes when you can already launch yourself over the front or lowside just by using half the brakes that are already available now..... |

> Seems silly to talk doubling up on the > brakes when you can already launch yourself > over the front or lowside The traditional complaint of the ZTL isn't the stopping power -- it works great for that. It has been the heat management in racing applications where it can have a disadvantage.
There have been bikes with dual-perimeter rotors before. This is a Guzzi from the mid-90s, I believe. It's the bike of a local racer I know. I asked him about the brakes, and he said they worked so well they had to reduce the number of pads in the calipers! |
