If i have a clogged oil cooler i assume the oil temperature would get too high. But how do i read that? Is it in the instrument menus somewhere? | ||

AFAIK there is no oil temp sensor and there is no oil pressure sensor, so there are no menu options in the IC. IIRC the 2010 service manual does mention how to plug in the Snap-On test gauges for diagnostic purposes. I suppose you could add a sending unit if you wanted one, and then added a DIY display. | ||

I'm sorry, it DOES have an oil pressure sending unit sensor that drives the red engine light indicator on the IC. Correct on the oil temp sensor, that does not exist. | ||

Yes, you're right -- there is a pressure switch on the crankcase that controls the oil pressure signal lamp on the IC. It acts as a binary operator -- it's either on or it's off. Unfortunately it doesn't send variable voltage pressure readings, which is what I thought the OP wanted. Looking back, he actually only asked about temperature. Guess I misread that. Oops. the troubleshooting section of the manual discusses removing the stock oil pressure switch and replacing it with a Snap-On oil pressure gauge to do diagnostics. That's where I'd consider plumbing a new sending unit if you wanted to add a dedicated temp or pressure gauge. to the OP: what makes you think you've got a clogged oil cooler? |
