$5K is a pretty good price. There tend to be a lot of 2009 bikes that are priced around $6k+ that aren't moving. Bikes tend to change hands at $5k. A lot of it depends on whether you can find a motivated seller. I found a 2009 in mint condition for a friend. 3400 miles. Needed tires and the harness update. We made him take it in for the harness update just a couple of days before the factory campaign expired, then we bought the bike. $4700. I thought that was a good deal. | ||

Heres a question... Take two 1125's same condition same mileage. Ones an 08, ones an 09. would the 09 be worth less because of the stator? | ||

Let me add --- I have 5 08's 1900 mi.,3800 mi.,6700mi.,22000mi., and one with 27000mi. and never any issues with any of them. Two ignition switches-clutch leak on all 5 but that was an early warranty fix.By the way, the one with 3800 is all WFO at the race track At 600 mi. it dynoed at 136 and at 3750 it dynoed at 136.I've never put a wrench on it other than to change the MOTUL OIL. | ||

Just keep in mind to factor in $900+- for the ebr stator kit and you're good. | ||

All being said an done I can't see how 1125 values are so low. So much power and performance, and people are debating if 5k is reasonable... Even with the 09's just get the stator ebr kit.. GEEZ You cant even get a new body style used 250 ninja for under 3k anymore... | ||

For about $150 you can get the EBR 1190RS-type rotor with the oil jet. Installing it involves a lot less wrench time than the 2008 kit. Why does everyone keep recommending the $900 setup from 2008? EBR doesn't even use it. If I were shopping for a bike, the stator would be a non-issue. | ||

All being said an done I can't see how 1125 values are so low. So much power and performance, and people are debating if 5k is reasonable... They're fairly high maintenance (valve jobs are quite non-trivial, and the 09s have the stator issues), and dealership support ranges from "good" to "Please go away." Plus parts availability is a bit of an unknown. Yes, Harley has to "support" them for 7 years, but that's not a guarantee of them being easy to find. They're just a big unknown going forward, and are priced accordingly. | ||

Buell resale value has always been terrible, long before HD closed the brand. I bought a used 06 XB for $4k in 2008, my cousin bought a used 08 1125R for $6k back before the 09's came out. I got my Blast for peanuts too. It is great if you are looking to buy a bike, you can add 4 more Buells to the fleet for the price of a Harley. | ||
