OK, I have my 2 bearing axle out of my '08 sitting on my workbench lined up next to my new 3 bearing axle. All I wanted was a new axle, as my old one is pitted. I got this axle from EBR. They sent me the entire 3 bearing wheel kit by mistake when I ordered just an axle. I have already talked with them, and plan on sending the bearings back. In the first email reply from them, they said this axle would not work with my 2 bearing wheel. They later said it would work, but the shoulder would stick out of the swingarm further. It would only be a cosmetic change. My concern is this. When side by side, I can see at least an 1/8 inch difference in the distance between the threads and the shoulder on the opposite end. The axle is the same overall length. I am worried this axle will not hold the new bearings properly. I have read that the pre 2010 axle has been discontinued and replaced by this 2010 axle. Anyone out there able to verify this is true and this axle will work? I am concerned it will damage my bearings and or wheel. I am preparing for Dragon V in a month. I don't want to be hunting down repairs right before the trip!  | ||

Assuming you indeed have a 1125 2010 axle, it will work fine. Make sure the threads are going the right direction, they are the opposite on the XB version. | ||

Yessir Froggy, it is indeed a 2010 axle. I got it from EBR. The threads are the same direction as my original axle. I finished replacing the wheel bearings just now. I'm glad I did it. The spacer was damaged. It apparently came into contact with the wheel on one end and spun. I had aluminum shrapnel in my hub. Luckily, it did not hurt the bearing seat in any way. I was only doing the rear because I found a notchy front wheel bearing, and figured I'd better do both wheels. I like the longer section of larger diameter axle on the 2010 axle. It should keep the spacer centered better. | ||

The pre-2010 axle is obsolete. The 2010 axle will work, but not quite as perfectly, in the older wheels. I have a few of the pre-2010 axles in stock still if someone needs one, see http://www.americansportbike.com/shoponline/ccp0-p rodshow/18047.html | ||

I got one of AS's pre-2010 axles to replace my pitted and rusted OEM '08 axle. I figure unless you have the 2010 wheel then there is no advantage to getting the 2010 axle unless you just want the black color--which is nice. |
