Hi Everyone,well I finally replaced the stator in my 09CR.I picked up a 08 stator from eebr when they were selling them as take offs and picked up the rotor on ebay,total cost was about 500$ including all the tools I needed.Started the bike today runs great the charging is 14.1-14.4 at idle won't be able to go for a ride for a while yet as I can't get out of the back alley yet to much ice and mud maybe in a few days.This was a pretty easy job didn't need the puller as the rotor just slid off and didn't have to heat the rotor nut as it wasn't that tight.Can't wait till go for a ride. Mike,was it difficult to lock the crank with the tool? That is the only concerns me when i do the job. | ||

It was easy as I had just done the valve adjustment and it was simple to find TDC of the front cyl.I think it would be harder to find TDC with out rotating the engine other then that it's a simple job. Mike. | ||

That thread suggested that you have to rotate the engine and remove the valve cover and look at valves to find TDC! Not at all. I posted to that thread describing another way to find the TDC locking port. It should make the job a lot easier. Here's the short version: Remove the washer that's on the balancer shaft, and align the cutaway on the balancer shaft so that it's parallel to the circumference of the rotor. This puts the TDC locking port into position with the crank locking port. Just shove in the tool, lock it, and verify that you can't rock the cranskaft in either direction, then you're good to go.  | ||

Just a thought,can you see the rear cylinder notch if you remove the oil screen and look in the hole. |
