Well now that the weather is starting to warm up I decided to jump my bike and get it running. My battery is just about dead so I knew I would have to jump it. I attached my 200 amp box to give it a start and noticed my battery fuse was blow. After that I decided to give it a trickle charge and put a new fuse in it. Now every time I got to turn it on, I blow the battery fuse! Is this a sign that I probably killed the Voltage Regulator? If so do I really need to get a after market regulator or will the oem regulator (shunt) work fine? I am very fortunate I have never had any electrical/stator problems before.

Re the VReg state of health, if the auxiliary power source you connected to start the bike with a dead battery had a charge voltage of approx 14 VDC sustained under load, you likely burned out the VReg because the VReg is designed to shunt (short out) voltages greater than that of a fully charged 12V battery. 200 amps at 14VDC would likely toast any motorcycle's VReg. That's why most sources state to shut off an auto's engine if trying to jump start a bike from a car.

Re the battery, does it take a trickle charge? I'd get that battery load tested if it will take a charge just to verify the health of it.

I ordered a new battery and bought a Voltage Regulator from Ebay. Oh well live and learn.
