Need some advice about replacement swingarm spools for a 2009 R. I've got the Pitbull F0083A-000 rear stand. It's the extra-wide model that's y designed for the 2009 Buell 1125 and 2009 Yamaha V-max. Here's a pic from Pit-Bull:  I'm not to thrilled about how it works with the stock 2009 spools. The forks on each side of the stand are pretty long, and the stock Buell spools don't stick out far enough to provide much clearance. I find myself having to be really careful when using the stand to avoid scratching the swingarm. I end up covering the swingarm with masking tape and/or covering the forks with duct tape to try to prevent scratches.   I'm thinking that it might be helpful to look for a set of spools that stick out farther, and place the recess for the fork tines a little farther out from the swingarm. Can anyone recommend a set of aftermarket spools that work well on the bike? | ||

Thanks Froggy. Got any idea how much farther out the DHM spools place the lift points compared to stock? I was also wondering if anyone had experience with the Pit-Bull Yamaha-type M6 spools. I'm also open to other recommendations. If anyone has a photo of how any of the aftermarket spools effect the stand's fork position relative to the swingarm, that would help me a lot. I'd really like to gain some clearance from the swingarm. I do all of my lifts without a helper, so I'm trying to find a setup that makes it easy to avoid screwups. thx. | ||

I use the OEM spools with an alloy spacer between & a grade A tensile bolt so I dont scratch the swingarm with my rear stand, works a treat. | ||

Any 6mm spool for a Yamaha would be better than the stock ones. | ||

Go to your local speed shop and compare. Cycle Gear and similar places have bunches of them hanging on pegboard displays. The Pit Bull can be forced a little wider if needed. | ||

I have the ebr chain drive swingarm on my 1125 and use a vortec stand meant for the firebolt. I laid the stand on its side and pulled up on the "leg" in the air to make it fit my swingarm. you might want to give that a try before spending some $ | ||

Xb9er, my Pit-Bull stand is the right stand for the bike, and it has plenty of width adjustability. The stand is not the problem. The spool location is the problem. The stock spools are too close to the swingarm and need to be out farther. If you take a close look at the photos, there's lots of range of adjustment available in the stand. | ||

These pics show that with the stock 2009 spools, the Pit-Bull F0083A-000 rear stand is in the middle of it's adjustment range. There's plenty of room to accommodate spools that would stick out farther.   | ||

Have you tried swapping the stand forks to the opposite sides. This will place the tall tine over the axle and over a narrower part of the swingarm (or so it appears). From the pictures it looks like it may solve or minimize your problem. | ||

D_Adams makes spools along with his awesome keda pipes. Maybe he has something a little longer for you | ||

Reversing the fork tines seems to make the pickup less stable. | ||

bend the "tips" of "tines" on the stand to "clear" the swing arm...you can also try coating them with this stuff ( rough up the surface or drill some small holes in the tines to help retain the dip): http://www.plastidip.com/ good luck | ||

I used a set of standard M6 spools on my CR. They have a lip that protects the swing arm. Head to the local motorcycle dealer and pick what you like. Plenty of options. ac | ||

M6 -- isn't that size Yamaha only? Just want to be sure I go to the right store, as there are no local dealers and every metric bike dealer is an hour in an opposite direction for me. Brick and mortar doesn't help me much. I'm pretty sure that the Honda store won't be stocking M6 spools, since they're specific for a Yam application. Am I right on this? | ||

I will measure but the best part is they have an ear on the inside so the clearance isn't an issue. If it's on the spool and ready to lift it can't hit the swingarm. I also adjusted my lift out to the "wider" side of the limits for the spool combo. |
