So I'm buying a 2008 1125 from a forum member here because it has all the mods i would want and is even my color of choice. The bike is currently in the middle of a tear down and rebuild with street fairings and etc. The issue Ive run into is the bike is running the DDFI3 race harness and i need functional lights and turn signals for it to me street able. Is there some fairly simple wiring that can be done to get this features to work? Or is buying a new stock harness the best option. | ||

Check the race harness and see if it has the plugs and circuitry for you to add the "sub-harnesses" for lights. Typically the body harness is one large harness, with subharnesses at each end that plug in to the main, and have the plugs for the lights. The giveaway would be if the fuses are present in the box or not. No fuses (or spots for fuses) = no circuits. If those aren't there...I'd buy a stock harness. There are SO many 1125's being parted on eBay, I'd say you're looking at a search that will take...minutes? Maybe? Also, talk to the seller and find out "hey, if I send you a stock harness, can you install it instead of the race harness, as you're rebuilding it?". Saves an extra layer of tear-down... | ||

Race harness does NOT include connections for "sub-harnesses", O2 sensors and some other items you will need. Race harness only has one fuse box and no provision to add a second (for lights). That is, if it is an actual race harness and not a modded street harness. Check with the owner, he may have the original harness. If motor is out of frame, swap out is pretty easy. | ||

The owner is willing to put a stock harness on. Admittedly he says wiring is not his strong suite. Thats why i was hoping there was a place to get a new one. I re-ran a new harness in a 04 Mustang gt and it was pretty simple because a small tag on every connector said l/h tail light, trunk release, etc etc I if i can find this, is there somewhere i can find a detailed easy to follow diagram? | ||

If you get your hands on a stock harness, lay it out on the floor before install and you can pretty much match up connectors with lights, O2 sensors, etc. | ||

Dugger- I would be interested i found one online but i dont know its condition http://www.ebay.com/itm/300400717578?redirect=mobi le Doing my research i saw that there was a recall for the harness and a harness upgrade to do or be concerned about. It seems now would be as good a time as any to address the issue. |
